But I have some news for you guys.

I actually got into the med school I applied to.

I'm in total disbelief.

THANK YOUUUUUUUUU!!! I am a 2017er!! I'm Class of 2017 at the med school, it was an Early Assurance Program that takes applications from juniors instead of seniors. It's where I really want to go, and I kind of can't believe it. I just interviewed there 8 days ago, and they said we would get decisions by the end of the month. When I got the email today I was like, whaaaaaat noooooooooooooo too soooooooooon!

God. She ****ing wants me to drop my ****ing classes just so I can keep up with work. DUMB WOMAN. i'm not doing that you crazy lady. Just because they're having issues fitting their schedule around me because they took so freakin' long to get my training out of the way (which isn't even over yet), they're taking forever to train me. now my mom think they'll fire me. shut the **** up! I'm obvies still going to post on this thread because I'm more 2017 than ever! How are y'all's semesters going? Mine is so stressful: I've JUST dropped my stats class and replaced it with Chinese (because the whole point of the med school program is to let students take whatever classes they want after fulfilling pre-med requirements). Otherwise, biochem and genetics are already kicking my butt (especially biochem... the first problem set was murderous) and poetry is harder than I thought it would be.

But AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Did you apply to an Early acceptance program since you're still a junior? I'm just curious.

My semester is going well I have my first cell biology exam next friday! At my school Ochem I and II are just lecture classes. The lab component is a separate class with 2, 3 hour labs each week, It's annoying and time consuming. I'm taking a short story class and it's great, no papers!

🙁. Sorry to hear this. Are you a first generation college student? My mom is a LPN, so she understands why I volunteer (to gain experience, med school app, ect.) But some of my aunts and uncles are so ignorant about everything, "That sure is a lot time to volunteer and not be working. I hope you have a job up at school." It's typical of some people that have never made it into higher education. They put the emphasis on the useless, but immediate job versus the important, long term goal, of getting into med school/becoming a doctor.

😱...🙁...:idea: do you have to work this semester? How about a small student loan? I know no one likes loans but one or a few semesters with a small loan wont kill anybody.

I work full time, and i got to a CC..

Haha Idk. I just feel like they are generic in a lot of ways, maybe not the most unique. I feel average, because I haven't gone to africa on a medical mission trip or anything. Or I'm not one of those concert pianists for my university's symphony orchestra, I feel like I'm missing the "interesting" component in my application. But I suppose this is mostly relevant at Top 20 schools.

I just hope a good service record (medical and non-medical), good research experiences, and leadership will seal the deal somewhere. I would definitely be helped by some type of endeavor in the arts, but I really don't care for it. I tried everything when I was younger, music, painting, ect. I just am not good at it and don't find it rewarding.
