Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Spring break is over for me. I went to Alabama as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and it was awesome!

But now that I'm back in school, stress is getting to me. :scared:

Hey guys! I was wondering if any of you had any insight on this.

So I'm doing an informal post-bacc this coming year and this is what I plan on taking + research and a job:

HLS 295 (3) Foundations of Public Health, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics
HLS 468 (3) Coping with Loss and Grief
BIOL 470 (3) Developmental Biology

Will is matter that I am going light on science? My sGPA is 3.4.

I could replace 295 with Animal Physiology (not human focused), or Mechanisms of Microbial Pathogenesis (graduate level).

Seeing stats go up since last years MSAR - SAD.

What schools?

Is the highest average still a 35?

Another question is are these number inflated in that they are the accepted numbers rather than actual matriculants (I'd imagine matriculant number almost always lower)

Hi all!

Go class of 2017!

Just wanted to say hello, but I didn't want to make a new thread. I'm a professional lurker, and I rarely post but just wanted to introduce myself to the rest of the 2017 class!

Good luck to everyone this cycle! :luck:

Average or median? WashU has a median of a 38 again. Harvard went up to a 37 median (from 36 I think). I know Yale and Penn are both 37. Haven't had a chance to check out the rest.

Edit: Michigan and Chicago are also at a 37.

Hey all, long-time lurker and brand new poster getting in. Just took the MCAT Friday the 13th. Handling my month of bliss/torment relatively well so far.

Enjoy that month! That month is the best, because no matter what, you don't have to think about the MCAT for a month!

Except for every time someone goes "HEY, omg you took the MCAT right? HOW WAS IT? What do you mean you don't know your score already. Oh, well how do you THINK you did? What do you mean you don't want to think about it right now? Well, I'm sure you aced it!!"

🙄

Welcome ZND & good luck 🙂 I took mine the week before you so I understand.

Haha yeah my canned response has been "you never feel good about the MCAT". Definitely enjoying relaxing/getting caught up on actual classwork for the semester though.

Well you shouldn't have told people you took the MCAT! 😀 Just have fun with that question: "MCAT?? That is what I forgot to do last week! I knew I forgot something, hopefully I can retake it when I get home."

or

"When I sat down I decided to go to grad school instead and took the GRE. It went well!"

or

"*death stare*" until they look away.

I've started using that answer.

I know I shouldn't have but... but... oh, idk it seemed like a good idea at the time. Maybe I should tell people I guessed my way through it and expect a 45 lol Although some would ask me a 45 out of what -__-"

Hi everyone, Class of 2017 lurker joining in!

Hi! :hello:

Indeed. Is it sad that I'm already finished and am now waiting on transcript/letter receipts? I am a reapplicant, though; thank God for prepopulation and old essays! Hopefully my last WL spot accepts me and this is all in vain.

Good luck everyone.

This is how I feel as well.

If not, then I guess I shall be joining the likes of 2017 as well.

Hang in there, mate. It's not over till it's over. But know you're not alone.

Although, I'm starting to get excited about all of my DO options and really wish I'd have pursued that option last year... I've got all my schools lined up and researched and start my MCAT re-studies today. I'm just trying to keep my head-up and staying busy in the process.

Good luck.

Any other non-traditional applicants struggling with the AMCAS already? I'm sweating through how to classify my non-traditional family...can't wait until I get to the coursework from my 4 different schools...

I've dealt with both aspects (5 schools, non-trad, post-bacc). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm happy to help anyone.

This thread was on the 3rd page. For shame! 😛

Anyway, hopefully all of you are not stressing out too much!

The TMDSAS optional essays are tough. Anyone have tips? Also thank goodness I trimmed my ps down to 5030 chars haha
