I was also struggling with whether to wait a year. MCATting while classing sucked, but happy I pushed forward!

SDN pretty much told me I should wait out this year too. Ah well, happy that I'm stubborn and am able to officially join this thread instead. :meanie:

😡 I stay off Sdn for like a day and I missed the whole colesmalls debacle. Can someone please aware me?

-people speculate that it may be a prank
-speculation and discussion follow about why ACOM rescinded acceptance

Accepted UVM 11/20.

I went to my High School reunion and basked in the awesomeness of it all. I have lost 80 lbs since H.S. as well, so that helped.

So many people from my H.S. majored in business/ finance and have jobs that would make me bang my head against a wall. Out of my class of 200, I'm the only one that's been accepted to medical school. The next closest is a girl preparing to take the MCAT early next year. She's got the GPA and EC's down. I told her If she does well on the MCAT and applies broadly at the beginning of June, she'll be golden.

So conflicted...I don't know who to cheer for! On one hand my family is very anti-trojan(bunch of bruins around) on the other hand Norte Dame was the only private school I applied to for college and they brutally rejected me and crushed my dreams. 😕😕 can they both loose?

I would say yes if you would seriously consider going to them if accepted. If you had an acceptance, it would be a different story. With that said, submitting this late will put you at a severe disadvantage at these schools.

I had a question regarding LORs that I posted in the 2018 thread but no one has responded; I'd preferably have an answer by this Wednesday since that's the best opportunity to ask. Here's the thread:

I ask because a lot of you have been very helpful in the past when I was still planning on being part of your class, not to mention c/o 2017 is a lot cooler than c/o 2018 (shhhh don't tell them I said that 😉)
 
I had a question that I think can get things started. So now that you have been on a few interviews what is the thing that you like most about schools. I will start. I think the 8-12 schedule is the best feature a school can have.

Definitely very very appealing, along with P/F! I know in the long run though that the structure of the preclinical curriculum is probably not the most important thing....I don't know, I don't know.
 
The informal lunches to see how the students act and how they like the school

I have not had a bad experience at an informal lunch, so I don't know how to judge it.

i don't think there is one most important thing. i think its more a gut feeling based on a combination of things? i'm a little OCD (aren't we all) so I have a google doc from every interview day with rankings of things like curriculum, clinical experience, etc and then an "extra" column for a ranking based on gut and then added all of the points for each school. so far the points have objectively been pretty similar to what i thought my impressions of each school were subjectively.
 
Oh mos def 8-12 and P/F...

Everything after that is pretty personal I believe (location, cost, chicks, etc)... I am going for not needing my car for at least the pre-clinicals and either dead urban or college campus (need mah sports fix).

I guess that's the bad thing about having so may choices. You have some hard decisions to make. You always have second look weekend, I'm sure that will help.
