That sounds horrible. I feel your pain!
All the things I will be considering. These are the pluses in my book:
Low Cost
1/1.5 year curriculum
Integrated PBL/TBL curriculum that students actually like
Amount of classtime/freetime
Flexibility in taking a year off for research/summer research/or MPH(and funding for this)
Attached to larger undergrad/graduate campus
Felt comfortable at the interview
Not suburban location with public transportation or ability to walk around town
Do not need a car(at least in the first 1-2 years)
Rotations not all over the place
Perceived strength of clinical rotations(have no idea how to judge this)
Perceived strength of match list(have no idea how to judge this either
Prestige of school/associated hospital(no one wants to admit it, but it plays a small role)
Opportunities for Public Health/Epidemiology research
LGBT friendly
Pretty Sim Centers/Anatomy Labs/Buildings(jk

)
These are just some of the things I am considering. Some things are more important than others. Obviously I am not looking for a school to have absolutely everything but these are all things I like.
