Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Fair enough. There was a lot of snow where I did UG, I miss it.

I'm going to enjoy it, regardless. In a few months I won't see the light of day!

That's right folks! We are the lucky few who will be starting medical school this fall! We're awesomeness!

got my first acceptance today, currently winding down from my 5 hours of running around in circles and shouting~~

Still weird to me that people dislike Lebron. Can you imagine if everyone hated you because you changed jobs?

So I read that the Cavs are keeping their salary cap clear to possibly resign Lebron...

Yeah I like how people are trying to predict whether Lebron will re-sign with the Cavs although it's still 2 years until his contract expires. 😎

Like a friend of mine said, how are they going to try to predict if he'll sign with Cleveland when they couldn't even figure out where he was going to sign minutes before "The Decision"...

More like if you relocated somewhere with better opportunities, more money, one of your best friends, and better weather.

You know what they say about haters.

So now that I've been accepted, I'm debating on whether or not I should be the typical premed douche who drops all his ECs and sits around getting faded all day for months until matriculation. It's tempting, but I have far too much personal honor to do such a thing.

I'll prob quit my hospital volunteering position tho, that was boring as hell.

Up early to get a work out in before heading to teach snot-nosed kids about strong oxidizers by reacting KClO3 with gummy bears.

Ah, the joys of teaching high school science. *sarcastic voice*

It's freezing, and I was hoping for a snow day!

I like gummy bears. Specially the ones from TJ's.

Told you so. :meanie:

Wow!

Well, congrats! I just got a rejection letter from a school that rejected me two months ago. Way to rub it in. Lol

I heard someone tell me this the other day... way cruel, but so funny as a neutral

Why would you sleep at 8 PM?

Because there's nothing better to do? Waking up early? Getting that long ass recovery sleeps? Save money, save time? Sick? Drunk? the list goes on..

This is all very true and I totally agree 🙂

However what got me and I'm sure others hating was the way he went about leaving Cleveland (that farcical one hour "the decision" special). He could have took the high road out, but the way he left just gave us further evidence of his arrogance and ego. Oh and one more reason to hate :meanie:

I quit the ECs I didn't enjoy.

Yea "the decision" was lame and so was "not one, not two...". Just a mistake made by a young kid though.

yup, only thing that ever bothered me (and it really didn't bother me very much at all) was "I'll be taking my talents to South Beach etc. etc." In fact, the Ray Allen move bugged me more

Been working out for 2 days. Already starting to read about supplements. lol wtf.

Yeah thanks, I was srsly getting worried. My advisor said that if I didn't have any acceptances by February, I needed to start looking at stuff to do for next year. But now, I get to have fun!

And get back to the gym of course. All the med school stress, all the interview traveling, it's been taking a toll on my body. But it's over now!

Anyone care to advise me? I really wanna quit my research lab because 60% of my time is spent just standing around waiting for my grad student. However, I have been with the lab for about 1.5years now and I feel like I "owe them" for helping me out in getting a med school acceptance. Plus I have a high high chance of getting a publication (not 1st author) if I stay throughout the semester.

Thoughts? I don't get academic credits or pay for my time spent there either.

two things...

1. You don't owe anyone anything (in this case... you might very well owe people money)

2. If you put in work, you're still going to get on the paper

Stay. Even though it isn't a first author pub, I would still want to stick it out and get something for my hard work. Also, maybe ask for more autonomy in regards to your research.

This isn't always true because often times even if you have done the work it is at the behest of the PI who gets put on the paper. That is unless authorship was worked out prior to starting the project...

You are going to get published and you spend most of your time standing around? Where do I sign up?

Thus reminding you that there are dicks everywhere. Glad this hasn't happened to my acquaintances or myself.

That would so not work up in the great white north

Interview invites don't start coming out until the start of feb

Why not do work while standing around so you have to spend less time in the lab (Grad students will love you if they come in to find stuff done properly without there help )
