Well I was referring to waiting on PCR (hours) and gels (~30 min) to run since E. coli is an overnight incubation.

No. Just add the schools that you have an acceptance for. You can add more schools later and it doesn't delay anything. You just want to be first in line.

On a side note, ever since becoming staff at my university, I have been receiving like 20 stupid emails a day about courses for instructors or proper technology use for the classroom. I have been stressing out because I am waiting for an email from a school that should come any moment (or day) about my status (accepted, reject or still under consideration) and every time I get one of those stupid emails I get nervous in case it is from the SOM. Screw junk email!

This is the first time this cycle that I have had these feelings. I guess I should feel lucky that it hasn't annoyed me until now.

I also feel like I am completely wasting my time right now with work. I have to go through and type word for word what was said at a meeting/ special class my PI led. The PI is going to use it as an outline for a talk she is giving next week. Sound fine, right? Well, I am not even halfway done and the thing is about 45 pages double spaced.

I doubt the PI is even going to look at it when she realizes how long it is and what she asked me to do.

Oh well, at least I am getting paid for this useless work.

Has anybody read the book Plague Time? I just got it as a present and was wondering if its any good.

Yea some PCR takes forever. One of the PCR (for flu A and B) we do only takes about an hour.

Problem is not how long the PCR takes - it's how many PCRs you have to do until you get it right.
 
I got a new acceptance letter in the mail today. Something doesn't quite look right though....

Well, congrats! I just got a rejection letter from a school that rejected me two months ago. Way to rub it in. Lol

Hey guys. I'm about to start research for a novel I'm writing that's heavily based on the dreamworld, specifically lucid dreaming and concepts of time-perception (ala Inception). Any of you know of any books that would be good to learn about any of the following:

2) Lucid dreaming
3) The science of the brain
4) The science of perception
4.5) Specifically how the brain perceives time
5) Symbolism in dreams

Freud did a lot of work with this even though people don't want t give him credit these days. "The Interpretation of Dreams". Also, Karl Jung may have done some work with dreams too because he started out as Freud's apprentice.

PS: Reading too fast. You said "science of dreams". It's more psychology. If I think of science books, I'll let you know.

Don't be jealous... It NEVER snows here in south MS. It will just be slush that doesn't stick and makes a nasty mess.

And Seattle is where I plan to move after med school.
 
Snow is the best to look at when you have no place to go
Like on Christmas or on Sundays
