Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
lol you are welcome to join 😉 the down side is that I have a layover in Chicago... and 100% of my previous stops there have ended in delays/cancelations.

I am ready for Mexican food!
LoL, I wish I could! Although, I don't envy your stop in Chicago. I had to stop there omw back from Portland the other day, where my nonstop turned into a stop and a plane change. I was livid. I also forgot my book in the backseat because I was so rushed. 😡

Dude, get some carnitas para mi!

:claps: SoCal or NorCal? Cause I don't know if anyone told you but NorCal is actually not California...they are just posers. :meanie:
Agreed!!!!!!!!

lol that's what I've heard. SoCal of course 🙂 😍 Santa Ana.

Did you have a nice birthday Tots? Did Mickey give you a hug? I like that whole marathon idea where the Disney characters give you high-fives after every mile. I bet that would get some kids running...

Only in Chicago... one time I was going to a conference in Madison and ended up taking a bus instead of waiting to figure out if there was ever going a be a connection I could make.

te mando las carnitas y unas torillas tambien...

Edit: what book did you leave behind?

Fly through Midway instead 😀 (making an assumption about where you flew in, yeah, but in my experience Midway tends to be pretty darn reliable)

Not staying in Santa Ana but hoping to make it there for some food 🙂 My SO lives in the OC + Valentine's day + Upstate NY is cold 😎

Nice! I was gonna say its cold in California right now...but probably nowhere near as cold as upstate New York. I am regretting forgetting my jacket in this 50 degree weather though...Bleh.

Haha people from Cali don't realize how good they have it when it comes to the weather. 50 is WARM, not cold!

Claro que si! Y me encantan los tacos al carbon con tortillas de maiz, carne asada, cebollas, y cilantro--*besa al aire!*

Y la...ahem...and the book was Our Daily Meds by Peterson. An awesome read. I was planning on sending it to a good SDN friend of mine in DC, JaBoomDay. But alas, she will be without a free and awesome book. I intend to get in hardback. It was a freakin' eye opener. I think every med student should read it.

Ugh, Midway is where I had that whole debacle. Granted, I'd rather have done it in Midway than O'Hare any day, but still. And I love Chicago, just loathe the airports. *shudder*
Ikr? LoL

I would like to visit chicago just to try some of the deep dish pizza. Looks so delicious!

It's SO good! I went to one of the more famous and higher rated pizzarias: Lou Malnati's. Freakin. AWESOME! If you go, you MUST try it. They also ship pizzas to your door for at home baking. I just discovered this when trying to remember the name of the place. I'm thinking of ordering one now, lol.

It's going to be 72 this Friday so I'm heading to the beach 🙂

It's going to be 37 this Friday so I won't be heading the the beach 🙁.

Not that there are any beaches around here.

lol I was excited this morning, because it was 30F outside.

It is 64 degrees in my office and I am freezing. How am I ever going to move out of California. :scared:

Aw, I also get cold easily. If you were to move out of California I'd suggest a 4-season city (many folks in the NE will tell you they have 4 season but they don't, I like the spring and you don't really have one over here - that said I love the Fall). If you can't do 4 seasons and get stock with 5-month long winters then... layers, water-proof gloves, warm hats and no shame in looking like an astronaut or a bearstronaut most days... you may end up liking it - I don't but my current job is worth it and your future med school probably will be worth it too 🙂

If the rumors about Mayo's aid are to be believed, you could probably stuff your shirt with all the cash you save and stay warm that way

The rumors about Mayo's aid are false though, at least this year from what we have been told so far 🙁 So I won't have any cash to keep me warm. (They raised the tuition ~10k from what we were quoted on interview day and gave everyone 15K a year, making them just about as expensive as a UC).

Whaaat so much for free med school 👎

I originally planned it out with the minor director at the time. He recently moved to another institution, and now this new guy is bringing up this issue that I the other guy had no problem with. Ugh.

When that happened to me I simply spoke to my program director and dean of undergrad science education and they corrected the new guy for me.

Although the new guy was messing with my major not minor

A toque the answer to all so winter related problems

And maybe irishing up your coffee

That's how we deal with negative degrees here (both C and F)

Public Health article of the day:
The Status of Baby Boomers' Health in the United States: The Healthiest Generation? http://archinte.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=1568518

"Despite their longer life expectancy over previous generations, US baby boomers have higher rates
of chronic disease, more disability, and lower self-rated health than members of the previous generation at the same age. On a positive note, baby boomers are less likely to smoke cigarettes and experience lower rates of emphysema and myocardial infarction than the previous generation."

Had me some of that fine brew last night...a bit more than I had planned on, actually, while watching the SoUA. LoL

And now? I finally sat back down to finish this manuscript I told all the schools we'd have submitted prior to matriculation. *sigh* It's funny how much more difficult it becomes to do things when you have more time on your hands. LoL

BT Dubz, have you decided where you're going between those 3 acceptances?
