In the interest of preserving my dwindling shreds of anonymity I'll limit myself to saying that it's an IF 2ish journal publishing medically-relevant molecular work.

I'm not complaining since all I did was basically data interpretation and wrote the manuscript and for that my PI gave me first authorship.

She taught several of my classes and labs last year. Towards the end of the fall semester, she was diagnosed with ALS. Despite that, she continued teaching and running the department for another year.

She wrote me a letter of recommendation. 🙁

ALS is a really sad disease. It sounds like she was a great person.
