Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why embro so bad?

Well for me, its mostly new material and its covered at light speed. Endoderms, mesoderms, blastocyst, wtf? I'll get it though. I must say, I love anatomy. I took it in undergrad and it has made it so much easier. Most of my studying at this point isnt even anatomy, although its the major course of the block.

Yeah, thankfully we didn't have a TON of embryo for anatomy, but the stuff we did have blew chunks

Don't worry Mr. Solo. You got into school, you're smart enough to hack it. Shoot, if someone like ME can do it, you're golden!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I think I am going to start taking a daily multi-vitamin. 🙂

Remember bro, sleep is essential. 😉

Oh yes. Sleep is the most important part. I'm still exercising everyday too.... With 8 hours if sleep at night. I study for about 5 hours after class and even have time to watch some tv or hang with the fam. Its a lot of work but its not like you go to class, go home and study for an extra 9 hours, sleep 4, repeat. I mean, there are people that do that...but not me and I feel very on top of things.

I roll with the ipad/stylus and noteability. The night before lecture I download it, then insert a blank page between each slide and import it to noteability where I can take notes and record audio during lecture. It works but its still hard haha

Yeah I haven't tried notability... I'll download it tomorrow and try it out this next week. I just want to stick with a routine that works well and that I feel comfortable with. iAnnotate is pretty simple and pretty awesome, but I may as well pick the better of the two programs before it starts to really pick up.

If you are comfortable with iAnnotate, stick with it man! Some of my classmates use that as well.

Does anyone know if the income based loan repayment option post graduation is for federal loans taken out for and during medical school only? Or will undergraduate federal loans also be consolidated with the medical school loans as well?

So much unscheduled time for the next month...I don't know what to do with myself. Like, I can't go on a hike or float down a river in an innertube with a 40 EVERY DAY, right?

You totally can!

Just don't pick up a book to study with.

What do you guys have against vegetating on the sofa and reading novels?

As a side note, fasting is killing me; migraines are horrible. I barely have strength enough to open SDN and leave witty comments.

Also legit.

I'm having a hard time coming back from Eastern time...my body wants to fall asleep at 9pm.

Just moved in to my new place 🙂 Next up, furniture shopping with my roomie and friends. I wish there was an IKEA nearby...

Orientation fun is over. Class begins in the morning. We have our first dissection at 1PM. I had no idea we would be cutting so soon!

Does anything exciting happen after 9PM? I normally crash around 1030 and then get up around 630.

Not really if you don't go clubbing (not so much anymore for me). 9pm is when I try to make sure I have put down my school stuff and I try to do some fun reading.

When did orientation start for you guys?
Ours started last night and continues forever. First day of "class" is August 12 and even that first day is still orientation stuff. Lol

Yeah they really like to throw you in head first lol

My room came with a full mattress (which is ok but not spectacular) and I am debating whether I should buy a box spring for it so it can be off the floor, or just splurge on a queen mattress set like I'm used to. Mattresses are expensive! I'm singe right now but I could see a full being kind of small for two people if that changed.

I like the way you think! If you can afford it right now then why not? Sleep is important.

Yeah, even though I haven't really done it in the past, I think a bed is something worth spending money on. I'm actually planning on buying my first "real" bed (i.e. not the cheapest one on Craigslist) this weekend 🙂

Moved my clothing and most of my furniture to my new place today. Met one of my roommates (going in, I didn't know any of them..) and he seems pretty cool.

Car packed--driving out tomorrow. Scared of future :scared:

I want to know if I'm the only one who's thinking of forgetting about med school, and finding a job at a local McDonald's/ Walmart/ Wendy's. Life as a minimum wage employee would be so much simpler than med school life.

I think I'm slowly going out of my mind.

Orientation was 7/29-7/31.

First day of class was packed with info already! And I spent 3 hours in the lab dissecting superficial back muscles. I'm exhausted!

👍
I remember superficial back and upper limb with fondness. It only gets more complex from there. Lol

Haha. I know. I've had gross before... I'm looking forward to it. Most of that time was cleaning fat from the muscle.

I spent what might be considered to be way too much for a mattress set and I think it was one of the best decisions I've made.

I, too splurged on a nice bed. I'm so freaking excited for it.

Is this what getting older feels like? :meanie:

Nope. It's only when you get excited over things like new frying pans and bed sheet sets that you know you're getting older. That or when you change your bald car tires for new ones, and become happy over the fact you can now drive in the rain again without fearing for your life.

Oh yes. haha we started with the superficial and deep back as well. I wonder if its common to start like that? The back wasn't very hard so maybe thats why? That info.....it never ends hahaha
