Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So, you guys who have become med students, have you cultivated a coffee addiction yet? I hear, in med school, coffee becomes more important than air.

Funny you should ask. I've never been a coffee drinker and won't be starting any time soon.
However, my classmates who are coffee drinkers have been going nuts with the joe. I've had a couple of rockstars but for the most part absolutely NOTHING will do more for you than exercising and getting a solid night of rest.

Had my white coat ceremony yesterday and it was very cool. We had an amazing keynote speaker. Tomorrow is the first day of classes and I'm excited and scared at the same time. I hope I can sleep.

I agree.

Definitely going to try exercise and sleep eight hours in med school.

I became terrified when I read blogs like RoadLessTravelled's; he basically claimed he slept 3-4 hours a night, every night. How do you even function in that state?

Solution to terror: I stopped reading medical student blogs.

So apparently everyone and their mom now knows I'm Doctor Strange.

Its ok, it just means they know how awesome you are and you don't have to tell them yourself. You know how many people figured out who I was on the revisit circuit? It was awkward and it never got less awkward. The weirdest part was when people knew way more about me than I would have preferred. It is hard to have a conversation with someone when they all kinds of details about me and I know barely anything about me....

Ha. I'm pretty sure people know me for being so sarcastic and mean all the time. Whoops....

🙁 Did you think I was awkward?

Not related to this at all, but when are you changing your avatar to the school specific one you made?

Totally agree man. I have been getting 6-8 hours of sleep every day and been exercising 5-6 days a week. The gym cuts into my time a little but if there is 1 thing I've learned so far its to take care of yourself. If you aren't getting enough sleep, you are only hurting yourself in the long run.

Hahaha this is true. Only 1 cup a day, around 6:30 AM but its large....I try not to hit too much caffeine later in the day with the rare exception....like last night for instance haha

Roadlesstravelled lololol.

So... has anyone else seen Sharknado?

Looks interesting...

lol... my avatar is a screenshot of the last scene. It's a guy jumping into a great white shark with a chainsaw. You'll have to watch the movie to see how it ends...

I will most certainly watch that.

Sometimes I come and lurk on y'all's thread just to give myself hope. This process will be over eventually, hopefully with good results!

With some luck, you might only be looking at another two and half months of waiting.

Ugh, I'm pre-writing enough that hopefully that will be the case. I'd be one happy camper if I could just get one acceptance before Christmas.

I quit coffee for about a year before starting med school and now I'm back on the coffee train. Right where I belong. <3

In other good news, I passed my immuno final! That ish is hard.

I hate it when anatomy faculty think its cool to write a practical exam where you are given 50 seconds to answer each question. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Now try answering questions that have parts a-e and still only get 50 seconds per question.

FML

First day and already exhausted but it's all good. I have a tea addiction and I hope I stick to that. Coffee sends me up the walls.

Also, status change 😉

So apparently I've missed 5 pages and I don't have the energy to go back since today was orientation and I'm exquisite already! We already have homework and our first exam is on Friday. Yikes!

Catch me up?

Likely by October. :luck:

Within one month... MS1 stress begins!

Toledo.

Why are there so many people going to Ohio schools here? Are we the only ones who haven't had orientation yet?
