Hello fellow Ohio med students!! I'm headed to Toledo and I'm currently packing a bunch of crap I may or may not need. We'll see.

It's crazy that everyone's started already. I have almost a month till orientation.

Same here. I want to take every article of clothing, every book I own--hey, I'll need Harry Potter to sooth my nerves during nasty exam times.

OMG I knew I was forgetting something! Can't leave w/o my HP books 😍
Incognitoguy, there are a lot of OSU people coming to Toledo now that you mention it..

Wow, I'd go nuts with all of that waiting, and start doing stupid things to while away the time, like changing my avatar from one smiling parasite to another.

I have taken up exercising. I try to ride my bike on 16-20 mile trips 3 days a week along with 1 hour of exercise every day.

Maybe I will be in the best shape of my life for medical school?

I've been going to the gym 5 days out of the week. 4 to lift, one for Yoga. I've gained ~20 lbs since I started lifting in January. Feel great.

I am not as concerned about weight. I am happy my BP has dropped by 19 mm Hg. Just checked and I am at 121/78.

I am one of those super unlucky people that gets hypertension by being over 175 pounds. I guess I can't go over 170 even though I am 6'2" just because I don't want to risk anything.

It is kind of unfair because there was a patient I saw while shadowing that weighted 250 pounds and was in decent health and showed no immediate maladies. Dang genes!

Plenty of time to hangout with everyone in your class and explore the city!

Yeah, I really wish I was going to some exotic far off city for med school. Instead, I'll be 15 minutes from where I've lived essentially my entire life.

... stethoscopes need to cost a lot less... this is ridic.

You have a white coat ceremony and then have to buy a stethoscope.

We have no white coat ceremony first year, but have a stethoscope ceremony where the alumni donate us our first stethoscope. I am definitely thankful for this!

What a great idea! I wish my school did this. On a side note, orientation is tomorrow. This summer went by too fast!

Heh, spent about 5k applying to and interviewing for residency. Stethoscope is nothin'

Also, resist the urge to buy a fancy oto/ophthalmo. Lots of schools push it, but most people don't need them.

$20 for a reflex and penlight? Sure. $500 for oto set you'll likely use 15 times? Um, nah.

Embryology will be the death of me lol. Anatomy? No problem, but embryo is gonna punish...

Samesies. I'm trying to develop a solid study strategy before it gets hard. I'm digging the iPad + stylus + iAnnotate combo so far though (I ended up buying the iPad 4 a couple of days ago rather than waiting for the 5 because I got $100 off :naughty:)

Why an iPad? You should try Windows 8!

I miss Tots and mcloaf.

I roll with the ipad/stylus and noteability. The night before lecture I download it, then insert a blank page between each slide and import it to noteability where I can take notes and record audio during lecture. It works but its still hard haha
