Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same!! :xf:

February for me...then I'll have time to retake if needed. Hope not, though 😳

What about you??

I still haven't even registered for it (I should get on that soon)! I'm thinking February. You?

Aw cool you guys could be study buddies, I'm going to sign up for the April 5th date (only because the late March date is right after my finals week:scared:).

As for the PS, I write a lot of fiction so I pretended my life was just another story and well, wrote. I already knew what subject I wanted to focus on, I just had to made it more med-based. Good luck!

And coyotelime, enjoy Rome!!! Lucky!

You have finals in March??! What kind of sick torture is that?

How much time are you guys giving yourself to study for the MCAT? I've been studying for it, but I have no idea when I'm gonna take the actual test haha.

About...2 years 😛

I've been studying on-and-off since October. I'll be studying more seriously over winter break. So 3-4 months.

Yeah, I'm giving myself 4 months for it. I'm hoping that's enough, but the PS section is absolutely killing me right now :scared:

That's my absolute worst section, hands down. Verbal is my best (thank you, English major).

So English actually does help a lot with verbal? *SCORE* English minor ^_^

So Ochem and Bio are in BS, and physics and gchem are in PS right? If so, I'm 50/50 for both of those (own at ochem/physics, suck at bio/gchem >.<)

I am thinking of switching up next semester so I have time for MCAT study. My hubby works crazy hours and our family situation will be changing in April with the adoption of a niece and nephew ( plus we have two little ones of our own) I am worried about my GPA staying solid and being prepped for MCAT. Took Bio I/II 7 years ago so just retook Bio I. Am considering taking Bio II over the summer after all the court dates and just having OChem II w Lab and a few online classes, plus MCAT study for Spring. Just hope it won't put me too far at the back of the application pool. The summer class ends July 20th.
Blah!
As for study schedule, check out the MCAT forum and look at the stickies. There are some amazing schedules and resources. Also, don't forget the classified forum for all kinds of MCAT study materials at crazy prices. I got all the books for the SN2ed study schedule plus more for a quarter of the original price!

Unfortunately orgo is like 20-30% of the BS section 🙁 I'd love more orgo on the MCAT.

I think you should be fine in terms of studying and applying. Don't let SDN make you believe July or even August is too late.

Thanks! I think I have let that rumor get to me a little too much. I would rather be successful at classes and the MCAT than rush to finish.

Soooooo, what is everyone doing with their day off tomorrow?
And don't forget to salute your Veterans!

We don't have a day off in my university. 🙁

You get a day off...? I mean I don't have Friday classes so it doesn't make a difference, but we don't have a day off tomorrow.

I get a day off too. Crazy others don't, we rarely get days off.

Yup, we have today off. Can't say it helps me as I have the kids home. Therefor, no studying will commence. We are going to have dinner with family and friends tonight to honor those in our family serving. Making the hubbies fav dinner! He is active duty AF.

Happy Friday!

Hey everyone, just thought I'd check in like everyone else and introduce myself...
I took the MCAT July 16, 2011 and received a 31 (11BS 11PS 9VR). I'm in the process of chopping up my PS and getting everything prepared right when June 1st hits.
I'm a Cornell University graduate, class of '09 and did a post-bacc with a 3.95 GPA, although my Cornell transcript was mediocre.

I want to thank all the people who have provided much insight on this arduous and painstaking process of applying to medical school... Class of '17, we can do it!

I hope you have been lurking on these forums for awhile, because 1 post from non-lurker + preparing PS 7 months ahead of time = troll.

Welcome man!

So I took 5 days off to travel around in Rome and Paris, brought a notepad to handwrite my PS on (I was 100 words in, had some random stroke of inspiration for my intro).... I am now at 103 words. Fail :smack:

So busy with school work everyone is inactive 😛 I'm sure you're super busy with med school, too.
Yeah....we had a big test today. So I'm taking a couple of hours off😛 Then I'll either go to bed early and get up at 5 and start pre-reading, or do it tonight and wake up on time.

In the meantime....I'm eating candy and acting like a 5 year old🙂

Sounds like a sweet plan! Reminds me...I've gotta do some physics pre-reading. 👎thumbdown

Talking about MCATs, I just signed up! I'll have to drive an hour because the centers nearby suddenly filled up :/ but it's ok. Ahhhhh

If it makes you feel any better, I believe my first diagnostic test for PS was a 4. I think that is worse than it would be if you just guessed "C" for every answer.

I never diagnosted (I know that isn't a word) above an 8. I got a 10 on the real thing....thank goodness.

haha yes it does, thanks miss cougarMD! Ahhh, the PS section will always be an enemy of mine. I just need to get it over with. And very nice use of the word diagnosted 😉

Eating lots of candy and watching 4 Terra Nova episodes on your night off makes you make up words.

Made-up words are way more fun.😀

leggo - that section was the bane of my freaking existence. I think I cried over it twice....my hard work never seemed to pay off. Then one day, it just all came together.

I have faith in you dude🙂

Currently writing a paper on face perception... I can't even look at people the same anymore... I was eating dinner with my gf and I kept staring so she asks "why are you staring" with a goofy smile... my response was "first order relationships... characteristic T-shape of facial features." Guess I screwed that up 😛

American essays are much easier to BS, I'm going to be very very grateful to be home despite 18 hours next semester.

How's everyone else doing with school? I'm assuming you're approaching last midterms followed by finals (if on the semester system). No idea how quarter systems work.
