Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too.

Up until this week, the semester has been super easy.

Monday is a Microbial Ecology test
Wednesday is a Molecular Mycology test

Once this week is over though its back to the final easy semester of undergrad!

Must feel good to be almost done with undergrad...Only another year to go...🙁

What are these classes....my Microbio major self wants to take them.

On that note I have dilema I need someone else to decide for me🙂p). I have all the requirements to graduate with school honors except for an honors seminar I would have to take next quarter. I already have 2 science classes I have to take to graduate + so this would be my third science class. The class topic is interesting(viral evolution) but at the same time I think it will be somewhat demanding. Do I do it? I have so much stuff to do next quarter(but nothing more than usual except applying to med school...). I will be teaching my own 1 unit class, tutoring ochem 10 hours a week, wrapping up my research project and presenting it on campus, continuing a bunch of stuff with my clinic project.....and maybe applying to jobs?

I just don't know...is it worth it so I could say I graduated with honors?

You have no idea how good it feels 😀

Senior year goes by really fast!

Hmm, tempting to do so just for the honors (even though it won't make or break your application). If you only think (not know) that it will be demanding, maybe add it and after the first week of classes, make the decision whether it will actually be too demanding.

Side note, Microbial ecology is really, and I mean really, boring. I only took it because I needed 1 more micro elective to graduate, and virology wasn't being offered.

Mycology is alright, I didn't plan on taking it but circumstances beyond my control led it to being substituted for microbial physiology.

haha yeah on second thought maybe not =P My Micro electives have been pretty awesome:

Evolution of Infectious Diseases
Infectious Disease Dynamics
Molecular Biology of Cancer
Advanced Immunology
Viral Pathogenesis and Immunity
Human Parasitology

Virology, Microbio and Immuno are core classes for my major...and I still need to take microbio during my last quarter(next quarter!) haha.....oops.

I am jealous. Our MMI requirements are:

Immunology
Parasitology
Medical Mycology
Virology
Pathogenic Bacteriology
Microbio
2 labs
+ other general advanced science classes.

Most are pretty sweet, it just doesn't leave much room for electives within the major. Probably gonna take Bioterrorism or Nosocomial Infections, though, so that should be awesome.

Don't do it!!! I have a feeling you're gonna do it anyway

Bioterrorism!? That sounds awesome! In the 1 unit seminar I designed 20% of the class(2 hours haha) are about bioterrorism...

Those classes do sound super interesting.

You guys have the most awesome selection of classes...I'd take some of them just because of the name. At my school we just have the regular bio classes...

Ditto. And we don't even have people to have the classes run every year. =C

had a neurobio of pain exam today, pathophysiology exam this wend, and my neuropharm exam next thursday which is over a TON of drugssss.....😎 ill most likely start studying for that after my patho exam.

im so tired. i never study at home its ridiculous.....

Oh God me neither. People ask me why I stay up so late and its because I study after everyobe ssleeps. When the world is quiet. Sometimes, it sucks being a commuter :/

Crazy I might be in here with you guys for 2017. I have been putting off applying, but I believe this year is the year. Excited, but also kind of crazy to be making plans that far out... 2017 seems a long time away doesn't it?

Anyways.... good luck to everyone!

Hello again 2017ers. It's been ages since I last caught up with SDN. Anything new happening?

Out of all seriousness, the biggest news is that I am taking four exams next week. That should also be your concern (just fyi). 😀

I am very concerned for you. Hopefully you're brain doesn't explode from information overload. But I do have to say that the big news was a little bit of a let down. I was hoping for some crazy SDN scandal. Not sure what that would be?
