With that said who should I pre-block or pre-ignore? Hahaha. I feel that sites like SDN have the best of both worlds: the good and the bad.

Haha the trolls come and go fairly quick around here. Lately we've been shutting them down super fast. You'll usually know an idiot just by the first couple of replies to a thread they make lol

Did you see her two posts in the dream medical school thread? She has a legitimate list and then a "whichever accepts minorities." Seriously? Be a little less obvious. Is there even a medical school that does not accept minorities?
 
I don't know why she would say that lol. It's not like there is a WHITECOM out there...

Also, chilling in the Athens airport. Headed to Barcelona soon! Most everybody from the trip is heading home today, but I have about 3 more days.

I am so burnt out (3, 4 hours of sleep a night) and my liver hates me (16 straight nights of going out) but man, what a fun time.

So it looks like I will have absolutely NOTHING to do this summer. I mean, really... final summer of my life and I'm stuck in my apartment.

I feel the same way.

Except I went clothes shopping and my reflection in the mirror made me start exercising again. I can only run an 8 minute mile. 🙁

I need to get back in gear. I haven't been running I got up yesterday & ran a couple miles at 8:30 each and almost died. But I usually run long instead of fast.

Just giving OHSU a hard time. But it is a little weird - do you honestly think there isn't a qualified black student in an applicant pool of >5000? Maybe OHSU did accept some, but then they ALL withdrew?

I finished up a super long bike ride the other day with some douche chucking his coke out the window at me. I rode the last 10 miles home all sticky...

Today is my one year anniversary of working in this lab. What an uphill battle it's been...

I know, I know, I've been MIA again. As school nears, I've been opting for a break from SDN aside from helping peeps via PM. With the upcoming inundation of material, social atmosphere, and the unending hours we're doomed to sit in front of our computers and study materials ( :scared: ), I figured that some time away from anything pre-med or med would do me some good. And I do feel pretty good. 😀

That said, is anyone living in Philly or planning on moving to Philly by the first week of July?
 
Man I've been looking for apartments online, and reading the reviews. It's frightening. They look great on their official website, then you hear stuff like, 'wife was sexually assaulted here,' 'homeless men sleep in hallway' 'drug deals occur in parking lot,' and 'my car was broken into frequently.' the management is always rude and unhelpful.

How do people find good apartments?

Yeah, and I'm not even looking at apartments in Toledo-- I'm looking at Maumee, which is nearby. It's going to be a fun year between the thieves, drug dealers, and unfriendly management.

Good thing I come from a city which makes this place look like a nice, quiet suburb.

That sounds fishy for Maumee. There's some nice places close to the school. Can't remember the names, but there are some OK looking places on Airport Hwy ~10-15 minutes west of the school. Next to a Fridays if that helps. If you're ok with a longer commute, Perrysburg is a good option.

I agree, it is frustrating to look at or read about places online. Planning a quick trip out to look and possibly sign a lease in a couple of weeks. For me this is too important to do long distance. Have to walk the streets and feel the place out, you know. Are you making the move very close to your orientation date or will there be time to see a few places prior to finalizing a lease?

Hmmm, I wish there was an easier way to do apartment hunting. If I was in your shoes I'd look your school's/class facebook page and try to get in touch with folks that live in the area, MSIIs perhaps? and ask about where they live, what landlords they recommend, etc. :luck:

Howdy!

Yes, Strange is there, but unavailable. I'm looking for someone that won't mind hosting me for a week while I'm in town. It looks like I might have to just start hopping on school specific threads and asking around. I just can't afford a motel/hotel for an entire week. That's some serious cash! 🙁

After my vacation tomorrow I have to come back and get my titers and PPD done. No fun right?

No fun at all.

I had to get two titers, on for hep B and one for varicella. The dumb thing is the doctor wrote the orders wrong and forgot to tell them to do both at the same time. Hence, I had to go to another doctor to get the orders for a hep B titer and poked again.
