Nope, I moved into the medical frat house ($350 a month, all inclusive and 2 blocks from our classes and hospitals).

I am the artist formerly knows as MoeMed15. Lol
The posts. These debates.
I've come to the conclusion that preallo is poison for my tiny little brain. :-/
My goal is to lose 10 pounds (and 20 mm Hg of my bp) by the time medical school starts.
Can I do it?

Sinombre, you were right. It's outrageously hot in Irvine

So I want your input guys. I've been thinking about this white coat ceremony. Don't get me wrong, I'm really pumped up to get something that shows all the work I've put in so far, but do any of you kind of think the schools are just trying to make is feel important? (like giving a little kid a dollar to buy an ice cream cone lol) I mean, at my school we recite an oath (not hippocratic) and get our jackets but I wonder how ridiculous the professors and older students think it is. Maybe I'm thinking too much lol
It's the equivalent of convocation for undergrad. It's a symbolic celebration of you taking another step into your education and/or life. Whether or not is "means" anything to anyone is on a person to person basis.
For me, it's not that big of a deal. As a first generation college grad, my parents want to be there to see the fruits of my labor and, by extension, the fruits of their labor for being able to immigrate from the home country to seek out a better life for their progeny.
tl;dr: It's a great photo op.
Thinking about starting a med school blog... Sounds like a lot of work, though.
The first episode of the last season of Dexter was... meh

At least it's better than the last episode of first season.
Haha! Thats kind of where I'm at. I'm actually kind of embarrassed by the whole thing because I realize I have soo much to learn and don't really feel like I've earned it yet. You are right about the parents thing though. Mine sacrificed a lot to get me where I am so they are pretty pumped. If nothing else I'm glad it will be a proud moment for them (and me to a lesser extent)
This is the only perk of not having the white coat ceremony until the end of year 2. I totally know what you feel like because I have those same thoughts.
We know nothing about medicine (at least, most of us don't) and I don't want people to confuse me as being a doctor. It is one of the same reasons why I don't like to wear medical school clothing. What happens if I come across a huge accident? All I can do is say, "Call 911" and then do CPR.
I hate that people are already asking me for medical advice and I feel like having a picture of me in a white coat is going to make things a lot worse.
Ah don't be embarrassed. Everyone will know your an MS1 and lack all forms of meaningful knowledge 😛
Does anyone else's school give out full length white coats to medical students? Because Pritzker does and that seems kinda weird. I was actually looking forward to the short white coat, I don't want people thinking I am a doctor.![]()
