Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you want to, you can even further exacerbate the pain by dorsiflexing the foot, which creates even further tension. However, don’t come to me when your patient punches you. The seated straight leg test is really good if you believe your patient is malingering, because they won’t think to recreate the emotions of being in pain and it catches them off guard.

Just in case anybody wanted to know..

Gross anatomy final tomorrow. It's also the last final of the semester. I need this break so bad.

Good luck! I wish we were already done with Anatomy...only 2 more weeks after we get back from break.

Finished with first anatomy practical! Now, off to studying the abdomen..

I have been on break for two days but still have an essay to write on the US Healthcare system. What I get for putting (almost) everything off until the very last second.

Wait, apologies for a really noob question.... but you guys actually have essays in med school?!?! 😱

What's next? Lab reports in med school?!?! :barf:🤢:vomit: Please tell me I'm wrong. Please tell me I'm wrong...

No lab reports, but yeah you'll probably have to write papers. I had to write a 2 page paper for PBL every 2 weeks. It's not too bad though, because they're not graded and they don't take very much time.

Edit: Tots might be writing it for a scholarship or something else outside of school though.

Yes thank you! Thank you so much! I hate lab reports!!! I can deal with a paper (sort of) but not a lab report... man, I really really am hoping to get into med school fast.... sigh...

Lab in med school (at least for me) includes 3 things:

1) anatomy lab, so basically just dissecting/identifying structures/muscles/arteries/nerves/etc.
2) histology lab, so basically just looking at slides under a microscope, which doesn't take very much time
3) my school trying to fit extra lecture hours in without officially calling them "lectures" because we're only supposed to have a certain amount of lecture hours per week. This happens frequently. lol

You never stop writing. Presentations, quick summaries, SOAP notes, etc etc.

Still better than worthless lab reports (because those things are likely relevant in the future. lab reports are a waste of time)

Med school labs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> UG labs (though the former can be a pain.... relevant, but still a pain).

Yeah for our social context of medicine class we have to write weekly 500 word essays. Luckily they are not really graded(though they are read) so my essays have been nothing to write home about. I am almost embarrassed that someone is reading them....

In regards to your lab reports questions, in my last class we had to write weekly case summaries for our small group cases. These were as a group though and they were super fun. I took great pride in my case summaries.

Isn't a case summary just clinical scenario? It's not like all those standard UG lab reports of writing like huge pages out of nothing lol.

Had lunch with @Guero today. Nbd.
Omg, it was awesome! My favorite Cheesesteak place in Philly (Pat's) and one of my favorite SDNers. @Doctor Strange Do you realize we've known each other for like 3 years and just now met in person for the first time? Weird
