Why are we on page three! I will bump it up with a success I had today. I correctly diagnosed lupus. The doctor came and got me while I was doing something else and said it was such a clear presentation that a first year could get it right. Sure enough, it was.

It looked almost exactly like this.

Mostly I impress docs by my drug knowledge, because I can't diagnose crap at this point...

I guess some schools do? I don't know. Ours doesn't. I'm just a drug nerd because my undergrad major was pharmacology.

GUNNER!

I remember nothing of undergrad. I was a neuroscience major, and doing neuro now, it's all new to me.

Don't worry. I only could name it because I am taking immuno right now and we just had a lecture on it. Otherwise I would have said blushing.

When you're watching House with med students and the patient develops muscle weakness and you drunkenly shout out myastenia gravis sarcastically and the doctor in the show proposes myastenia gravis as a diagnosis.

lol

I can't.

Lol. Used to be the biggest fan, now I can't even watch medical tv shows anymore. They seem so weird.

You are missing an "h" in that diagnosis. I say this as someone who misspelled that disease for close to 6 months... while working as a research coordinator... in neurology... on that specific disease. lol

I also misspelled ophthalmology for close to a year.

As hard as I push to pass, it is shocking to think back and realize that a 70% is a C-. I feel bad for all you that go to schools with real grades. P/F is awesome.

I need 3 Fs tomorrow to need the bare minimum score of a 70% on the final to pass my classes.

+1, except on the F front. Cumulative block exams be nasty.

Ditto. Although,I'm going for a solid P.
I'm not sure I would be able to go for just a P. If we had the ability to get an H, I would probably try a lot harder. However, I prefer to have outside activities and a wife to spend time with.

Good thing I am not going for a super competitive residency. I am likely going IM, and then trying for a fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care.

At least for me, going for honors would mean sacrificing too much (mainly less social/fun time). I'm still aiming for 85-90% in my classes, but honors is determined by being in the top 15% in the class. In the grand scheme of things, it's not worth it.

And I'm actually thinking of doing the same -- IM and then critical care. Let's see if that remains true in 3 years...

Our grades are not curved, so anyone that gets over 90% gets Honors.

So I started running to get my mileage conditioning up for Tough Mudder. I've never ran regularly before. Kind of sucks but I'm noticing the improvements each time so at least it's paying off..

Yeah I kind of fell off the wagon with the polar vortexes. Trying to start again... painful

I managed to keep up with my lifting (haven't missed a day yet since school started), but the combination of managing a caloric deficit + Neuro block overload = weightlifting plateau. Thankfully I haven't lost any strength but I'm not exactly hitting a PR in the near future either..

That feel when today is supposed to be a light day with just a couple lectures to stream...and I end up studying for six hours.

😢

It went from warm and sunny to 34 and supposed to snow in one day.

Da faq.
