I'm willing to wait. I don't want to call anyone if I don't have to lol. They do, but they take a couple of days sometimes.

You and @ridethecliche should stop posting in that thread. Derm's not going to give you an answer (yes, I've been reading along) for white privilege, nor is he going to address systemic racism against African-Americans at all. He's just a natural cynic who is most likely upset that most incoming and current medical students are now liberal and fighting for the right side of justice.
Following @sunflower18 into this thread is easily one of the best decisions I've made in a while 😀When compared to the Doctivism train-wreck this thread is brimming with puppies, sunshine, an ample supply of Taylor Swift photos, unconditional support, and unlimited comfort food. I like it here. 😍
I just don't get why people can't have a civilized discussion. I've learned loads of stuff with these forums, but there doesn't seem to be much intelligent dialogue regarding social justice issues. You can't get more than two posts without someone screaming "straw man!," refusing to answer a direct question, or making a snarky, irrelevant comment. Oh wait. This is the internet I'm talking about here.
Thank you!! Obviously, the medical community needs to be trusted by the most marginalized groups.shoutout to @Cyberdyne 101 also for your posts in the doctivism thread. I agree with others on here though, arguing with someone like that has absolutely no value!
Good thing that that kind of thinking and cynicism is slowly becoming obsolete in the medical community, as evidenced by the die-ins today!!
I can attempt to explain what white privilege is since it's brought up all the time at Wash U, but that would take awhile...and lol blocking you means he gave up and ran out of snarky arguments. He just blocked me. This is hilarious.
I just really wanted to know what white privilege was!

That's a shame. White privilege does exist; anyone who denies its existence is either racist, ignorant, or just plain cruel.Haha i know what it is. I was just certain he didn't believe in it which is why anything we said was incommensurable.
I've been similarly surprised at how every single argument devolves into a ticky-tacky argument over who-made-which-logical-fallacy. It's a deep shame that some members would so much rather try to poke holes in the logical flow of an internet post, rather than actually digest the message that is being conveyed. It's as though a few members are playing this secret game in which the objective is to find the most (minor) issues in others' arguments. For all their wisdom and experiences in other areas, I've noticed that a few of the more "senior" posters take a certain amount of pleasure in diminishing an opponents "argumentation strategy," a practice best left to debate club and dysfunctional relationships. Frankly, their habitual, incessant "nit-picking" is every bit as "derailing" to a thread as a full-blown troll is. But at least trolls don't continually revert to this self-righteous "I know more than you do because I'm a real doctor now." It's a lazy disguise for an inability to digest a contradictory viewpoint, and I'm glad that so few are fooled by it.I just don't get why people can't have a civilized discussion. EDIT: Sorry @Silverflash , I won't say another word 😛
Agree 100%. You summed my feelings up more concisely than I ever could.
And extra apologies, Silverflash. We'll return to your regularly scheduled broadcasting now. Oh, look! A puppy!
I am going to be exactly like this dog tomorrow morning. I don't want to deal with a 7 am meeting -___- (and LA traffic, a lot of rain, the looming fear of JHU decisions, so on and so forth...).
Relax, you'll do just fine 😉Exam in 30 minutes. Big (potential) med school decisions today. I'm literally sick because I'm so nervous.

Thanks! Haha I'm weird. Even though I mentally wasn't nervous for my exam, my body still reacted like it was!Relax, you'll do just fine 😉

Haha, the worst is when you study for weeks and feel super ready for the exam. Then when you get to the first question you're like...I'm not in school anymore, but I can definitely relate.

I've been wondering about this... What happens now? Do you attend half of both? Is that allowed? Does anyone know what the norm is?Just found out that the two schools that are currently my top choices (of my accepted options) have the same second look weekend.... Noooo 🙁

THANK YOUUUUU. (NGL, kind of a whole mess of feels at the moment). This is just unreal. Good luck to @ProbablyAPenguin and @onceawolverine, though I'm pretty sure their apps were a slam dunk.Congrats to @hellanutella on Hopkins!!! So happy for you!!
Holy sh**!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on Hopkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOUUUUU. (NGL, kind of a whole mess of feels at the moment). This is just unreal. Good luck to @ProbablyAPenguin and @onceawolverine, though I'm pretty sure their apps were a slam dunk.
I can't think of a better time for someone to get cocky/prideful. And yet, your kindness transcends even the most heroic of accomplishments. Hopkins is lucky to have you.THANK YOUUUUU. If that was supposed to be an insult, it was a rather poor attempt lol. I am proud of my alma mater; so what?I don't have an opinion on white privilege, but I'd just like to congratulate you on making it through an entire post without mentioning the fact that you went to Wash U in St. Louis.
I think he/she was simply pointing out the fact that you do like to bring up your alma mater by name a lot.If that was supposed to be an insult, it was a rather poor attempt lol. I am proud of my alma mater; so what?
If you ever watch The Wire, you'll see why I posted a pic from the 4th season.@jsquared91 Holy smokes. It's a thing of beauty... all that ricotta cheese. And free? Where's my ticket to NYC?
Gosh, @sunflower18 you are the best. Everyone send her good vibes for her pending CCLCM decision, whenever it may creep out over the next week or so. We're rooting for you!
Hahaha oh my god, everyone's been making such stereotypical Baltimore jokes now. Heard it's an excellent show, but I haven't seen it. Guess I'll have to treat myself to some marathoning this winter.
And I hope everyone has a restful weekend. Catchup on last minute gift-hunting. Make yourselves some delicious, calorically-irresponible food (like peppermint bark or a nutellasanga 😉). Try your best to remove all app-cycle worries from your mind.
Lol, I'm pretty sure Hopkins med students are not required to live in the projects.
