The thought that someone who isn't even in college yet has created an MDapps, taken a practice MCAT, and made over 1200 posts in this forum is quite terrifying IMO. I strongly urge you to go out and have fun and worry about typical 18 year old things..

Well, to be fair he's a freshman, so he is in college.

Also, I'm a freshman with 63 credits coming in from HS

I'm just surprised he did as well as he did just coming out of HS *MCAT practice score*

Does that tend to happen when you've taken the AP version of every single pre-req needed on the MCAT?

I dunno, I guess it's possible, but I took AP Bio and chem (and also took em in college) and could barely answer some the practice questions I looked at 😱

I can't believe there is a 2019 thread ALREADY...It will be interesting to see if this thing survives until 2015 so I can look pack on this comment and laugh. But yeah, we just finished finals at my school...no Cs so im good 🙂. We have had tons of med school exposure such as Emory, Duke, Medical College of GA and many other schools to come talk to our premed program which only has about 50 or less students (my school has 3000 total students). But enough of me...Good Luck 2015!

Dude. You have no idea how crazy my social life is and what I do outside of "SDN" and "studying". Please don't make judgment calls unless you actually know me personally.

my boy capone's a genius 👍

Nah. That's just the brain steroids doing their job.

I took AAMC 3, which supposedly is easy. And the only reason I took it was for a bet (Won $30 in the process, but not worth losing 5 hours of my life over).

Holy sweet mother of _________.

Am I the only one that hasn't taken either Bio or Chem yet?

Am I the only one that hasn't taken either Bio or Chem yet?

Next semester I'm taking:

Differential Equations
Classical Mechanics
Electricity & Magnetism
Chemistry I with Lab
Nope, i won't be taking them until next year, starting physics this summer though.

I just got my first final grade back...100% (general psychology final) just 3 finals to go.

Finals period did not go well for me. I know now that cramming and depriving myself of sleep isn't going to cut it anymore. I bombed my calc 2 exam, and I ruined my shot at getting an A in organic chem by oversleeping halfway through the final (I was studying until like 5am and thought I could get away with taking a short nap). I can only hope now that I didn't get a C in either class. I've learned my lesson for future semesters the hard way. Ruined what would've been a great semester. I'll probably get As in my three other classes at least.

whoa you took orgo as a freshman?

Since I plan on doing the MSTP thing, I really don't know what "CO" I need. Somewhere between 2020-2022 is my best guess. So I'll just post here 🙂

Did your college make you take them over? I started with 55 credits and won't take any of them over. There's too many other classes I want to take:nod:

Next semester(my fourth) is looking like this:

CHEM399 INTRO CHEM RESRCH
MUSP403 PERFORM PIANO
MUSC229 UNIVERSITY BAND <-- Keeps me sane
ENGL390 SCIENCE WRITING
CHEM483 PHYSCL CHEM LAB I
CHEM481 PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY I
BSCI222 PRIN GENETICS

This light load will give me time to study for the MCAT (May 2012)
Good luck everyone.

what is the prereq for pchem at your school? orgo 2? i'd like to take it, but then i'd need to declare biochem and i'm bio atm. i'm torn between bio/biochem, since i'd probably enjoy biochem more but bio is apparently easier...

Yeah my school offers an organic chemistry class specfically for freshman. I've already taken a year of gen chem through dual enrollment, so I figured I should just go ahead and get orgo over with. Dare I say I kinda like the subject? It's very visual. Much more interesting than gen chem.

Hello! I'm a hopeful class of 2019 as well 🙂 Nice to meet you guys!
My schedule for next semester is:
Spanish
Chem II
Cell Bio
English
... and I'm pretty excited 😀

You're being sarcastic when you mean "light load", right? Because PChem and Genetics are considered to be ungodly hard, at least at my university.

I didn't have to take them again, but I decided to anyway.

Anyways, welcome 😀

Thinking:

Freshman Organic Chemistry II
Organic Chemistry II Lab
Nigeria and Its Diaspora
Cell Bio
Elementary Spanish II

That's like 15 or 16 credits. idk if taking cell bio and orgo at the same time will be too overwhelming though. I'll have to ask around about that.

yeah I think I'm going to put off cell bio and take this American Medicine and the Cold War class instead, which is a needed writing credit. I can't risk taking two very difficult classes at the same time next semester.

~resurrection~

My school is so cruel for giving professors all of winter break to submit grades. Still waiting nervously to see what I got in orgo. Our final exams were graded two weeks ago, yet you're going to wait until the last possible second to post our final class grades? Blah. Anyone else's school do this? The college I dual-enrolled at gave professors until the Monday after the last day of finals. I miss that.

My grades won't be submitted until next week either :/ I have half of them, but I'm still impatient. Even though I'm 99.9% sure of what they are, it's still nervewracking! I'd feel so much more relieved to see them finalized.

Is anyone else considering applying to the HuMed program at Mt. Sinai this summer? I definitely am, and I'm really excited about it! Not terribly hopeful, but excited nonetheless. I have a very humanities-focused background 🙂

My profs post grades about a week after finals 😀

Nah, not applying to the HuMed program, I'm to science/engineering oriented. I'm probably applying to the Texas JAMP program this summer though.

I'd like to join in the fun, class of 2019 hopeful here as well.

Next semester I'm taking:
Bio 94 Organisms to Ecosystems (with lab)
Chem 1B General Chemistry II
Cultural Anthropology
Precalculus

I already have a foreign bachelor's (class of 2010!) and I'm doing a second bachelor's now... It kind of bums me that I won't be class of 2020. That would've been cool--class of 2010, then class of 2020, but then I don't wanna have to delay things any further :xf:

This thread is EXACTLY why people hate frosh premeds.

And why is that? There are some annoying first-years here and there, but overall the users on this thread (which is a public forum--open to everyone, mind you) are here to gain information about the application/admission process, just like you. We just got an earlier start on it, and if you ask me, if I didn't join so early, I'd know absolutely nothing about the admissions process, besides the fact that one needs a good GPA (and I also came into college with over 60 college credits).

This thread is EXACTLY why people hate frosh premeds.

South Asian, 19, has an MDApps, "future dermatologist", posts shi**y advice on the WAMC board, probably a frosh pre med herself, makes post about how threads like this are the reason people hate frosh pre meds.

Seriously, where do you go off thinking you know anything? At all? :wtf:

Hey guys. Another hopeful 2019er here.

Next semester I plan to take...

General Bio II + lab
General Chem I + lab
Genetics + lab
Philosophy of religion

15 credits. Should be a pretty good semester.

Oooohh so jealous that you have Texas residency. I've asked my parents upwards of four times so far if they are interested in moving to Texas within the next few years, hahaha (they aren't particularly inclined to do so). Good luck with that, though! 😀

Looks like an interesting schedule. I really wish our university had a philosophy of religion class.

Sunflower, maybe I can ask my parents to adopt you cause they've been here forever in Tejas 😀

Sorry about that. I guess we're not cool enough to be "future dermatologists".

That's an awesome schedule! And I really admire your perseverance. It takes a special person to go through college in another country, come to a foreign country and then repeat that process over again. Best of luck with next semester!

Haha, moving here has been awesome. It's like starting over again, but not really. Thank you!!

i have some advice to give u men and women when u get into medical school and start things up.

try not to room with someone.

and if you have to, make sure that they are not stupid and limit it to only 1 roommate.

I guess it's about time to bump this thread again. Hope everyone had a good new year!

Anyway, I've made it back to my college with the new semester starting tomorrow. Anyone else starting tomorrow or this week?

Starting tomorrow with Gen Chem II in the morning and Bio in the afternoon. Should be fun haha

Yep, I start tomorrow as well. Nervous and excited at the same time, I feel like Chem 2 and Cell Bio will hit me hard, but we'll see.

Lol, looks like we'll all be looking at some orbitals in a few hours.
