I don't think the 2015 Hyperlearning sets are "free" right now! I have also never understood the arguments for piracy that didn't really boil down to, "I want it but I don't want to pay for it."

How about, money shouldn't impact ability to prep for a test in this supposed meritocracy, so I'm going to take my poor ass to the library of Pirate Bay and get what I need to prepare

Mid 40s-50s and a little rain. It's actually been nice the past couple of days. Hopefully, we'll actually have some real spring weather before it gets really hot. Although, last summer was actually quite pleasant. But honestly, heat doesn't bother me that much.

Just the opposite, I believe in an absolute level playing field (or as close as you can get) for academic examinations. Legality is def not the same as morality here. I'd rather see a poor kid steal a set of prep books than do worse on the exam than his rich twin who had a prep class. Honesty for the sake of honesty is a useless ideal, Im utilitarian to the core

I wasn't talking about piracy........

why is the MC*T even being discussed in this thread? I come here to celebrate my forever freedom from the pre-med world, including that test-who-must-not-be-named.

Edit: and simply not "wanting" to pay for your $2200 class isn't the reason why many choose not to. There's probably many who would if they had 22 benjamins to throw away.

Cool beans, then it's okay for people to steal the answer key for every exam?
 
Maaaaaan, so was just filling out the NeedAccess (so specific!) form with my parents and I realized that I will either
- get great financial aid this coming academic year :greedy:, and be completely cut of all that sweet need-based aid after first year (parents had a gigantic financial loss this year, but will bounce back next year) or,
- get meh to no financial aid (perhaps they think since my parents will bounce back, no need to give me one year of good aid) :-//////
Scary thoughts thinking I very possibly end up in $200K+ debt (from ~$50-somethingK/year) from loans, especially after a loan-free undergraduate education

Also, had a small panic attack when I thought I was too late to fill out one of the school's financial aid documents (said you needed to fill out by April 1st), but then I remembered all these documents are for a school at which I'm on a waitlist, so I'm not rushed to fill out forms like accepted students. :heckyeah:😀🙂🙁:arghh::hungover: (My six stages of grief)

You trollin me brah? That's clearly not a parallel. The parallel would be if a bunch of frat guys were passing around old exams it'd be fine to "steal" from their archive and disseminate copies to the entire class. The idea is for everyone to have access to the preparations they want so they can demonstrate mastery (they possess) of the material. Outright cheating is the antithesis of utilitarian take on things, causing you to appear to judges of merit as something you're not

Or, ya know, make friends with those frat bros and other upperclassmen who have old exams? You wouldn't have to "steal" anything, and you'd be enhancing your networking skills! This is how my friends and I got thru all the premed classes - study all the "legal" material and then do a bunch more practice exams than what we were given.

Oh via my sports team, most of whom were in a frat together, I had tooooons of access and I shared quite a bit and told everyone I shared with that the condition was they had to pass it on too. I don't find using old tests inherently unfair, because you still have to possess mastery come test day (unless questions are verbatim recycled), I just take issue with how not everyone knows they're out there/can get them if they do. Take away the limited access and it's hunky dory

I feel like deep down if you were asked "if you had access to test answers and knew you couldn't be caught, would you look?" you'd give a very disappointing answer. I wouldn't be mad though, just...disappointed
 
Re: MCAT studying. I bought like 600 dollars of books and sold them for 750 (as an SN2ED package) on ebay. PS: Kaplan is trash imo. Berkeley review, AAMC practice tests, TPR hyperlearning and EK bio/orgo are where it's at yo.
 
What is wrong with y'all today? Holy smokes. It's a beautiful sunny day in most places. The flowers are blooming. The ice cream trucks are starting to come back out. And it's about to be prime kayaking season. Everyone should be happy and stop bickering on the internet.

My bad. I've been stuck in an ER all day. And it was also raining outside today. I think tomorrow will be a better, brighter day (no work tmrw woot!).

I wonder what my sense of humor is. There's a decent showerthought - nobody really knows what their sense of humor is like because it's just how they perceive the world. Sort of like the voice reading these words to you in your head right now, which you can probably say the gender of, but what does he/she sound like? You? [7]

I wonder if on some subconscious level watching scrubs (first few seasons only) made me want to be a Dr. lol. I thought about (but later decided against) saying that as a joke for "why medicine" in an interview.
