So I live in Texas, applied IS to all Texas Schools (3) None OOS.
GPA 3.72, Science GPA is like 3.6 (3.84 overall using TMDSAS GPA calculations)
DAT AA: 20 (Lowest was 19)
I've had 100+ hrs of shadowing, + service experience.
Graduated from uni in december, I'm currently taking courses post-grad at another college.

I received two interviews: Baylor in mid-October and UT Health in early December. First time applying. I recieved a rejection letter from Houston (no interview) about a week ago. Baylor also let me know they were still considering me back in mid-January.

I honestly expected to be in the first or second round of acceptances and frankly it's a little confusing/humbling to me that I haven't gotten any notification yet.

The only wierd thing about my app is that I switched to pre-dental from pre-med about a year before I applied. Still, I should be more than qualified... right? I'm a little bit dumbfounded right now, and need either comforting words or a dose of reality. Whichever is more honest, preferably.

Also, when is the third round of acceptances typically sent out for texas schools? I think the second round has already been sent out.

Gpa is good DAT is average. Your shadowing is average. To be a strong applicant your dat needs to be a little higher. With that being said you’ve still got a good chance of acceptance with those stats. Take till June to volunteer and possibly study for a dat retake. I think with your stats right now you should probably apply to 12-15 schools and if you achieve 22+ on the DAT 8-10.

You have good stats and you got interviews at 2/3 schools. Maybe it was the interviews?

You say that you switched from pre med to pre dent a year before you applied, how would that be visible in your application? I don't see how the schools would know that unless you straight up told them which wouldn't be the wisest idea imo.

Its tough sometimes to pinpoint why. Sometimes its a matter of luck and sometimes its something about your application or interview that didnt quite click with the schools.

I was in your exact position a year ago but I had no interviews at that time with a 3.75gpa and 21AA 21TS 25PAT. I did however disclose my premed past because I had taken the mcat prior and applied to medical school which I feel like held me back last year but it really could have been anything. This year I think I had a better chance at least oos because the new AADSAS app did not require you to disclose that info but the TMDSAS still did.

You really should have applied to oos also. The difference in tuition at most schools would be made up by a year of dentist salary which you have now lost with no guarantee going forward either.

Nonetheless I would reccommend reapplying and adding some oos schools. Good luck!

You still have a good chance, just as long as your interviews went well. A&M still hasn’t sent out 2nd rounds and SA’s 3 rounds should be coming soon. What day did you interview at SA?

I think all 3 schools are looking for something different. I only got an interview to SA out of the 3.

Oh me too! I was thinking if you were the week after mine, that may be why. I haven’t seen any acceptances from people who interviewed 11 dec and after yet so I was thinking those would be included in the 3 round.
