I've searched like a maniac and can't quite find what I'm looking for.

So I previously took Ochem 1, 2, and 3 in the quarter system. I would like to retake Ochem 2 but my school has recently switched to semesters. I am currently signed up for Ochem B in the new semester system but does it really matter if I take semester A vs B because Ochem 2 is pretty much split between the two? And if I take B, does it replace only my Ochem 2 grade, only Ochem 3? Do I have a choice? I know it can't replace both because the semester credit has to be greater than or equal to the quarter amount.

Thanks.

If its all at the same school you might have an argument. I'd email AACOMAS though.

How many quarter hours/semester hours are we talking for all these courses? It's a pain in the ass to replace quarters with semesters since 5 quarter hours = 3.3 semester hours and a typical semster course is 3.0 hours.

When I spoke to the aacomas rep, they said they don't allow those. Some people here have said retaking the full year works. Before making up your mind, call aacomas.

This is the response I got in an email:

The guidelines for repeat courses are:

1. Both courses need to be on the same level (undergraduate/graduate)

2. The credit hours for the repeat course needs to be equal or greater than that of the initial course (credits have to be converted to semester hours if they are in quarters or units)

3. The content needs to be the same or similar

AACOMAS will use the most recent of the grades in the GPA calculations. There is no stipulation regarding where you take the courses or how many times you repeat a course. If you are trying to replace a 4 credit course with 3.3 credits that is not possible because the credits are not equal or greater than the initial course. You can only replace grades at a one-to-one ration so 2 quarter grades cannot be used to replace 1 course. AACOMAS cannot offer any further assistance in you choosing courses, if you need specific guidance please contact your advisor. If when verifying we need more information we will contact you for that. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us. Thank you.

If I redo the whole series with those 2 semesters, which of the quarters will it replace? That above response seemed to robotic for someone to have read what I actually emailed.

Don't mean to highjack this thread, but I don't want to get flamed for not having done a search.

I am in this same situation in which I have to take the B portion of an ABC sequence (quarter system). However, I only have access to semester-based schools (AB-sequence) for retakes.

Has anyone found an answer for this?

Also, I am wondering if it is possible to retake a full one-year ABC-sequence (quarter system) doing a full one-year AB-sequence (semester system),

or will the two classes from the AB-sequence only count as two retakes for two classes from the ABC-sequence

Hope that wasn't too difficult to follow

The matter is moot now, as effective this cycle as per an announcement made earlier last month, AACOMAS will cease to do grade replacement and will instead average all grades like AMCAS.

I'm aware. I need to retake, not replace classes.
