I will be graduating this yr with 60 hrs of science classes, sgpa around 3.3. I've done some reading of old posts and figured that a post bacc would be best for because my sgpa has room to improve. I've figured I will take about 30 hrs next yr and am hoping to get a 3.8+ in these classes to raise my sgpa up to a 3.5. I go to an out of state well respected public school and will be taking post bacc classes at my state school, which will hopefully be easier. I also hope to go to the state school I will be taking post bacc classes at for med school. I am wondering what classes appeal to med schools, primarily chem and bio classes? Im just not sure how to make a DIY post bacc! Thanks.

So, it depends what classes you already took. If certain classes you took and got A or B, you should not retake them.
Otherwise,
Microbiology
Immunology
Anatomy
Physiology
Genetics
Neuroscience
Histology
Virology
Pathology/Pathophysiology
Cell Biology

Make sure you have at least Bs in Gen Chem and Orgo Chem courses, Physics.

If it's on the MCAT and you haven't taken that class yet, start there. Core basics - Gen Chem, O Chem, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics

If i got a C in first semester gen chem, while I had mono, should I retake it? I also got a C+ in orgo lab but an A in orgo should i retake the lab or is it not worth it? I will look into taking the classes you recommended thank you!

It depends, in general getting As in higher level coursework is sufficient if your core prereqs are above C. If you are working on improving your sGPA, then retaking everything below B- is reasonable.

How do you have 60 credits of science coursework already? What were these courses?

I'll have 52 when I graduate in the spring I miscalculated. I've taken 2 semesters gen chem with lab, intro bio course with lab, 2 semesters ochem with lab, first semester physics, biochem, cell bio, and ill take human physiology and second semester physics next semester. I also included stats and calc in my sgpa. If I'm set on going to my MD state school would it be more beneficial to retake classes or take upper level chem and bios or both?

again, what grades are you talking about to retake?

Anything below Cs must be be retaken. You can try getting upper level courses first. and then see what your GPA is, if it needs more repair.

The gen chem and orgo lab are the only classes I have C's in so I guess I should retake those! Thanks for your help!!

Don't try to make your app perfect for one school. You're going to have to apply broadly.
