I've seen people point this out about certain schools. A predent that I was talking 2 weeks ago mentioned that taking classes with med students you get a more comprehensive treatment of the subject (i.e. anatomy etc..) and it prepares you better for the board since some questions tend to ask really random things. What do you guys make of this?

Could you at least tell me what are the advantages and disadvantages of this approach? People have been alluding that the disadvantage is that you learn of stuff that may not be relevant to dentistry.

He is right. I cannot speak for all of the other dental schools, but you will get MORE basic science than you would like to. For example, we disected in GREAT detal the arms, hands ect. What does that have to do with dentistry?

The only difference between what they do and what we do is that we are on different schedule.
