USMLE clerkship or observationship ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Definitely clerkship rather than observationship although as a foreign med student, I am not sure if you would be eligible for clerkship. The term clerkship in the US means you are actually doing the rotation for credits. Observationship just means shadowing. Check out VSAS website again this is for US med student I think.

Hello, i am medical student ,doing internship in india. I want to know which one is better Do clerkship or observationship ? And how to get that?

Thank you in advance

Clerkships or clinical electives are better because they're hands on. You can only do them before you graduate. Most require step 1 scores.

thank you ..can you tell me where should i apply for elective/clerkship for internal medicine with or without step 1 ? as i plan to give step 1 in September and want to do elective in November.

For electives, I think there's a website that lists them all and their requirements. Idk much more because I'm a graduate and planning on USCE after getting ECFMG certified. You could also look up individual programs and email them. They even have companies that can get you electives but I hear they're expensive.

Be wary of those third party companies.
