I know there has been alot of discussion out here about certain allopathic residencies discriminating (or seeming to) against D.O. grads. I was just curious if anyone knows if this also exists in setting up clerkships at allopathic hospitals. The reason I'm asking is that I was out at Stanford's emergency medicine site looking at residency info. I happened to read that med students can arrange EM clerkships during their 4th year, provided there is room after accommodating Stanford students. The interesting part was that they will only take students from U.S. LCME med schools. I was under the impression that LCME accreditation only applies to allopathic schools. Any thoughts on this, or is this really a non-issue in the real world?
