Hey,

If you don't think you'll be able to survive as physician b/c I hired a few PAs, then come work for me.... I'll pay you fairly (more than the PA... promise!) and let you call your own shots... as long as I get a cut! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Since you have a med school background, you could even be the office manager of lab work now and then... have hope!

Chances are, you'll go into practice and realize how wrong you are when you do need extra help (provided you are good) and then hire a few PAs to help you out.. if not, then come knocking on my door! 😀

PharmD's in NYC and in California make $95k-$120k starting salary. This is based on a 40 hour work week. $45-60/hour is the standard starting...
 
I am currently working as a Director.
I see 62 patients a day all by myself;
very broad scope...indeed from acute coronary syndrome to minor trauma.....

And, I work by myself....
I refused PAs to step in my office I am sorry...

I had an NP asking me for work and he was asked me If I was credentialed and I was looking at that imbecile's eyes this is how far we had come in a disgraceful situation.

I think it would be other way around...my office staff tells me PAs are doing many malpractice cases and that's that....

I am just trying to protect those coming after us....

Oh by the way, just as an note my practice average gross is ????? million per year. Ooops trade secret....

So I guess I am not doing too well with these..but I still have energy for some stupid debate...with all those against my views...

You havent been paying very close attention. Its abundantly clear thru his/her posts that Vukken has an established clinical practice. Meanwhile, you are the green premed who knows virtually nothing about healthcare.

Next time you try to call somebody out, do your research first idiot.

I am just fed up with all that fallacy of AMA and AOA not doing anything for us...
Yes, for us....

I have dealt with very greedy bastards calling themselves physicians...
Some of these guys were paying PAs higher money than MDs...why???

Cuz their brains are rotten from the heart to their soul....
I was really disgusted over this....

I even remember some FP guy cutting into a diabetic patients and not placing him on an antibiotics...When his wound ended up opening up...I was trying to save his ass by doing daily wound care and allowing secondary healing....

then this same FP guy calls me and says you did not have to do that you won't get paid for all that wound care anyhow...

So I said to him really pissed...hey man if you want to cut into somebody at least place him on antibiotics will yah.....This patient wanted to sue you as a side note and I told him it would not be needed since with wound care he would heal nice.....

Plus I still would have done wound care even if it was free because our first mission is to care....we can't make money all the time....

This is what I did for a fellah Physician who was a *****...really.....he was not thankful at all for all these.

If I have enough money I would hire a Physician instead of shortchanching my patients. yes....and I would not expect him to stay with me forever....Physician training is designed for an independent practice enventually....unless this same physician wants to stay in group practice...

Actually, I would want physicians to go and open their own practice...I think that is the right thing to do...population is growing so why not support new physicians....

But, I do advocate for one year of social service year before PGY-2 for all residencies like a matching process nationwide...So either you do Neuro or Fp you may end up either in Guam or alaska for one year....working and serving the public...that may help with the shortage of physicians...in rural areas in our nation...I also believe that will teach young physicians about their limitations.....This social year should qualify for loan repayment...what a nice treat that is....

Oh well....

Please do not get offended for my comments...
I just get outraged about the silliness of our profession...

I have resisted the temptation to call you out in the same way many of the others on this board routinely do. The reason for this is that you have at least TRIED to substantiate some of your claims with evidence that the rest of us can look at for ourselves. Although I usually disagree with most of what you post, I have appreciated it when you post links that sometimes provide a different point of view. Futhermore, I HAVE been keeping up with the thread, and even if I was convinced that Vukken does run a practice (WHICH I AM NOT), his anecdotes do not constitute data. Show me in a respected print source that the things s/he is saying are supported.

Additionally, as the banter between you and I has until now been civil, I kindly ask you to recant the insult at the end of your last post. I would also counsel you to be a little more thorough with your reading as I have made it clear that, quite aside from being a premed, I am a medical student currently doing clinical rotations. I sincerely hope that you and I can remain (get back to) addressing one another in a respectful fashion.

I too am "just a med student," but I think that maybe you have gotten my point of view wrong. There are many things that we could do better with healthcare in America, and I think most of us are agreed on that at least. I am not putting forth any solutions, rather I am adamant that THE PROBLEMS DO NOT STEM FROM THE EXISTENCE OF MIDLEVEL PROVIDERS. It seems more and more that Vukken and MacGuyver are on a witch hunt of sorts, and I don't feel like standing by and letting it proceed. That said, you are quite correct when opining that the discourse can be less than mature at times.

Ok Vukken, if you really are a physician, then you deserve some credibility in this discussion. But please, if you don't mind, stick to the issues and don't twist them to suit your agenda. You and I were discussing something completely separate when you attacked me as a PA by calling me a sellout and what not. Why do you think I went back to medical school, because I was some PA spy? You really need to think before you speak. And whether or not you really want to hear this, you need to realize that as an osetopathic physician, you are making us DO students look stupid. Whether the truth hurts or not, as a physician, one expects that you can forumulate complete thoughts in English, at least in the written sense. I mean you have time to formulate your thoughts before you speak here, so please try and sound a bit more educated. Obviously you made it through medical school if you are who you say you are, but your attitude and rhetoric shed a poor light on us other DO's following in your footsteps. Its worrisome when you see students acting like Kindergartners around here, but its crazy to think you could be an attending I might be working under. Show the maturity of an attending if you really are one, and might you consider lurking on a physician forum? I mean what you are doing here almost qualifies as statutory rape in the sense of what maturity level you should be on compared to us!!

I did not go to school to be an NBC anchorman...
I went to DO school to become a Physician....and I am proud to be a DO unlike many of my colleagues who have attended school with me.
 
That was better Vukken, but try and use a few commas, separate two distinct thoughts (like the frontal lobe statment and the opening of the mouth statement), and actually complete a sentence. I realize you may not be trying to imitate Tom Browkaw, but can you shoot for imitating a fluent physician who has at least a college level composition course behind him? And your practice sounds very successful, so I applaud you for that. But don't forget when you are "styling in that Durango" that you are ultimately judged by how well you come across. And here, the only thing to judge you by are words. I just hope you will think about that before you decide to blanketly represent the DO profession all the while leading readers to believe that they are conversing with someone who is likely simultaneously watching "Blues Clues". Good luck in all you do.
