Are you currently planning to attend on loans?
-Undecided person who has no financial assistance from Mailman and is scared to death.

Org Sync https://orgsync.com/61038/forms
Not the best site to find things on.
Thanks so much! I tried clicking through Org Sync but couldn't figure anything out lol.
All right, my scholarship is now officially up for grabs. I wish everyone the best and hope those attending Columbia have a great experience =)

Hello to all,
I'm a current first year MPH student in the EHS department at Columbia. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I can't speak much to the HPM 16-month program, but if you have questions about NYC life, the core curriculum, EHS department, etc. feel free to PM me. I'll get back to you as I find time, but if you reply to me on this thread, I will most likely not see it.
Best of luck with decisions and everything.

Can anyone tell me a little about the admitted students day? I was unable to attend.
Also, is it possible to have a part-time job while at Columbia? I don't know how I'd swing it without a job.
I spoke to two students who had part-time jobs. They both said its impossible to have one for the first semester, but many students have them after that.

Thanks!
I am anxiously waiting to hear about a scholarship from Columbia. Didn't even have them on my radar, but a scholarship sure changes things... I hope they let me know soon... deposit deadlines are coming up fast! NO idea where I will be attending

Anyone have any knowledge of assistantships at Columbia? Do they even exist?!
Just FYI for those of you still considering Columbia - they are still giving out scholarships.
What! Can you provide any more info (how you heard, what the timeline is, etc.)?

The really ought to be clearer on this. I just turned them down because of a pitiful finaid package.
Hey there,
I am an International Medical Graduate from Singapore. I was accepted in the Columbia Accelerated MPH, HPM Department. I am choosing between this and another program at my university. I already have an MD, the MPH will hopefully be a good plus. I have a couple of questions, I hope someone can help.
1. Anyone knows what is the official start date of the accelerated program? I emailed and called Columbia but have not had a clear answer. They said it's usually after the labor day.
2. Is anyone planning to apply to the Match while doing the Accelerated MPH? Q to any current students: do you know anyone how did it? There will be interviews to attend across the US (hopefully around 10!) between September and January. The residency programs start in mid-June 2014, students in my situation should be done with all requirements of their program by then.
See ya in Fall!

I received a phone call about a scholarship I was awarded yesterday although - it was a very specific scholarship based on my choice of certificate program.

the 2013-2014 academic calendar is here:
http://webdev.mailman.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/Academic Calendar F13Sp14Su14March27.pdf
i think this might be a tentative version at the moment, but based on trends from previous years, i think their official first day of class is always the day after labor day.
How was visit day?
i'm curious as well! anyone have any input?
And,
happy decision day! join the fb group if you haven't already: https://www.facebook.com/groups/152071798293031/
Ok So i am a little confused about the accelerated MPH...it says that you should have 5 yrs working experience or a degree in some parts of the website, but in other parts it says:
General Public Health is intended for candidates with health-related professional training or work experience. Either a higher-level degree, such as an MD, or at least two years of full-time, health-related work experience are required for admission.
I will have 2 years work experience-- is it worth applying? Also, can you apply to many different programs at the same school, can i apply to the regular MPH and the accelerated MPH if I am confused about eligability?
