It was there before but you couldn't click on it. At least I couldn't. I'm showing the same thing for my FAFSA so maybe they just haven't updated it?

where are you finding a document link? Orgsync? I can't seem to find it.

I checked mine, and it says it has my FAFSA and links to a master promissory note and entrance interview, but nothing on the amounts or terms.

There's a link on their finaid page for their supplemental app which takes you to it.

Sorry, I am so confused.

How do I log into the Financial Aid system? I don't have a Student ID - where can I find this?

I will be attending the accepted students' day on 3/15 so I will chat with anyone who is interested in hearing about it afterwards.

I am also a female seeking a female roommate(s?) to live with, preferably on-campus but I am open to other options. 🙂

Can someone please explain to me what OrgSync actually IS? I have only gone on once, to register, and I couldn't figure out what we were supposed to do with it.

Hi everyone!

First off, congratulations to all who have been accepted so far!! MPH @ Columbia for HPM is my dream and I'm hoping to join you in the fall.

I have yet to hear back and I am getting very worried. I sent in my application on 1/15, and it wasn't verified until 2/19 and then mailed on 2/21 (I'm Canadian so I think it must have taken much longer to verify coursework, etc).

Have they received my application too late for me to have a chance? My numbers aren't amazing (~3.2cGPA with 3.8 in final year, and 32 MCAT), but I think my experience/background is very strong.

When should I realistically expect to hear back? Would it be worth it to write some kind of 'expression on interest' type e-mail? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Its a system that was designed at University of Texas (which they've sold to lots of other schools and organizations) that is supposed to be a place to schedule events, communicate with students, organize clubs, and provide forms and resources. Its sort of like a facebook or google+ for colleges, but with a much less intuitive interface.

Right now, Columbia has put on OrgSync the RSVP pages for the admitted students days and fellowship/scholarship reception. It also has the offer acceptance form and deposit form on there as well.

To find these things, there is a little box on the left side of the screen that says "Applicants" with really little boxes next to it. The acceptance and deposit forms show up when you click the tiny "forms" box, and the events show up if you click "calendar." You can get the events in a list if, once you are on the calendar page, you click "events" on the left. I said it was non-intuitive!

Has anyone been able to access the supplemental fin aid application?

I checked mine, and it says it has my FAFSA and links to a master promissory note and entrance interview, but nothing on the amounts or terms.

Mine says that my FAFSA is completed, but lists 2/27/13 as the date! The due date for FAFSA was 2/1, and I submitted before then! I hope this isn't bad...

Mine says the same thing, I think its just when they uploaded everything.

Anyone else know by when we will receive financial aid packages?? They need to hurry....

I just heard from Columbia epi with a merit scholarship. I'm hoping to attend next week's visit day, but haven't yet received any info on OrgSync.

When I got my scholarship letter on 2/26, it said I would get an email about federal aid within 2 weeks.

Congrats!! Orgsync info came about 3 days after I got my acceptance.

Update from admissions:

1) There will be no physical mailings 🙁
2) All merit awards have been sent out. If you didn't get an e-mail, you probably won't get one.
3) Financial aid e-mails will be sent out very soon.

Hope this helps.

Has everyone heard from Columbia already? I applied right around the deadline and haven't heard anything yet.

I was looking at last years thread and it seems they started getting packages late march..around march 27th....hopefully they mean sooner than that lol

ok, the excitement has slightly worn off and panic has set in. HOW WILL I PAY FOR THIS? praying for a need based award, does anyone know when those are awarded?

So fwiw, I found out that I had the wrong SSN on my SOPHAS which is why my FAFSA hasn't been received anywhere. So now I get to contact all the schools. Yippie! lol

I think they just processed all that they had on 2/27 so no worries 🙂

That's exactly how I feel!! Money worries....trying to figure out how I'm actually gonna budget living in NYC....definitely need to start preparing and saving now. I plan on calling later this afternoon to see when financial aid packages will be out.

Has anyone who applied for accelerated MPH heard back? I am waiting for the decision and getting anxious. When is the admitted students day?

Awesome, thank you!

I had mentally ruled out Columbia, but this scholarship has made me reconsider. For those who have decided (or are leaning towards) Columbia, what do you see as the biggest disadvantage of the school? For me, it's location (I want to be on the West Coast, and I don't particularly want to live in NYC) and the fact that students seem a bit iffy on it.

Is it possible to get assistantships or other campus jobs?

Just heard back from Columbia for Accelerated MPH in Biostatistics.

Good luck to everyone else applying!

I have made up my mind that I am attending Columbia!! I was going back and forth between the epi MPH at Columbia and an Infectious Diseases/Vaccinology MPH at Berkeley (with a fellowship) but after speaking to several Berkeley students and Colombia students in each program, it is clear that even though I will be taking out loans for Columbia....it will definitely be worth it in the end 🙂 New York here I come!

I'm going to guess no. http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/academics/degree-offerings/MPH/program-schedule

Interesting - the reason I ask is because an alum I'm facebook friends with has a TA position listed. However, I think that was before Mailman introduced their new scheduling structure. Bartending it is!

Does anyone know if non-Global Health certificate students have an opportunity to do their practicum abroad?
agendas, I have a friend in his first year at Columbia now, he is applying to be a TA for the next semester.

I spoke with him regarding class scheduling, and he said that it's more flexible than it appears online, especially after the first semester.

does anyone have a copy of the March 15 admitted student's day agenda? I'm trying to decide if it's worth going now or if I should just push it off till April...

And again, with the questions. Nothing shows for me on OrgSync, at all. Applicants shows that it has no events or forms. What am I doing wrong?

Hm, maybe contact them? I just logged in and see forms and events there.

If anyone else is having this issue, I just spoke to Admissions. There's a time delay with OrgSync, so if you just joined today, you may not be "grouped" and have access to all materials until Monday. Last day to register for the 3/15 Visit Day is Monday.

Thanks Topshine and ylk7a! They really should include that info *before* you register for the event. Seems like it might be worth going earlier after all 😳

Hmmm they just told me the same thing but I just checked and SOPHAS has the correct SSN... I really hate faxing that type of information. But it appears like the institutional and supplemental app is up again (at least it is on mine).

Ha. No I really did have the incorrect one. Columbia told me the one they have on file and it was the one Emory had on file as well so I just failed. Had a dyslexic moment.

Anyone else get an email from Columbia regarding missing documents before Financial Aid can be made? Something about the promissory note and direct loan entrance interview? I tried to log-in to the financial aid page that it requested me but it won't even let me!!! ahhhhh

I got that...twice. And now I got my actual package...twice, even though I didn't fill out those forms. Weird.

Yeah, that happened to me as well. I got an email telling me to fill out these forms before they could give me a financial aid package, but then a few minutes ago they emailed me a package even though I hadn't yet filled out the two forms they'd requested. It's weird and confusing. Anybody have any tips for dealing with loans? It'll be my first time taking some out and I'm not really sure where to search for information.

Well mine got screwed up because of the SSN issue. Did anyone get anything other than their scholarships and loans in the package? Just curious (no need for specifics if you don't want) 🙂
