What is the first year curriculum for Columbia?

Similar to most other schools I'd expect... except that we do probably go into greater detail with the medical stuff. I graduated in May from Columbia, and I know that after my 1st year they changed a couple things for the better. So, there might be some alterations to what I'm about to tell you... you'll have to take Anatomy all year, Oral Histology (microscope stuff), SB- a basic science course related to med/dental, Epidemiology (which may have now been combined with another course), Human Development, Neural science, DAO (dental anatomy and occlusion), prostho, and now a combined course that includes smaller courses that used to be separate like Intro to Dentistry. I may have left some things out... When I was a 1st yr, these courses were separate and students felt that they could be joined together to save everyone some time. Also, after my 1st yr we switched to H/P/F system, so your grades will not be letter grades.

Enjoy! It is tough, but you'll survive and be better for it. And, contrary to belief- you WILL also have time to do things like watch your favorite tv show and have dinner with friends on the weekend.

check out the class of 2010 thread in the predent forum...if i recall correctly, i believe somebody posted the cirriculum for the first two years somewhere in the 12-15 pages...im just too lazy to go look for it right now.

Here is what classes looked like last year. They start off less intense, then school gets really intense before christmas and until April when Anatomy ends. The rest of the year is less intense, unless you struggle with dental classes.

I gave an estimate of lecture hours per week in paranthesis.
