Hi guys, I got two admissions from Columbia MPH (health policy) and Brown MPH (with 25% tuition discount). I have no ideas which one should I choose.

Columbia has higher ranking, better location for seeking a job. But its tuition fee is higher.

Brown has smaller class size, less tuition fee and better research environment. But I am concerned that Brown seems not to show up in any MPH rankings and the program is relatively new.

Thanks a lot!

Both schools have their strengths and weaknesses, Columbia I would say is better with health policy, and Brown is excellent with regards to global health. Nice to have a choice where both options are very good! I'd consider touring each school and talking with a couple faculty members at each.

Just wanted to give you some more info re: Brown- the program itself is about a decade old, and it used to be part of the medical school. The school of public health is the new part (established July 1 2013) but they are in the process of becoming an accredited school (a 2 year process, and it is already an accredited program). I don't think it will show up in rankings (ie US News & World Report) until it is an accredited school.

Thank you so much for your information!

So I guess the better choice would Columbia as I love health policy more and may pursue a PhD within health econ or policy. Thank you very much!
