You explicitly used the word CHINESE-- and not within a positive context, either. Maybe it was not your intention to be "racial" but I don't think it was necessary to point out the dude's ethnicity-- his ethnicity had little to do with the rest of your statement. From where I'm from, at least, an individual can get into trouble for saying something like that, no matter the intention-- racial or not. It's like saying "you must be that Mexican guy," or "you must be that Black guy," "you must be that Jewish guy," "you must be that Arab guy," etc. A statement like yours, especially in the context of retaliating to what another individual said, can be misunderstood. Just gotta watch what we say and how we say it. 🙂
