Yeah...if you got an acceptance in Cali, please don't post about it. Let us live out our delusion for one more day. Leave us and our bubble in peace 😀

I'm so glad nobody in southern California has posted that they got something 😀

Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I keep telling myself that. 🙂

Outer SE... you?

I'm in inner SE (I go to Reed). Are you out in Gresham?

As for your chances, who knows -- don't get down about it until you get a letter! That's what I'd promised myself. The whole process is so crazy you can't be sure of anything until it's in print.

Haha, no, sadly I live too near Reed (mid-40s, up near Hawthorne) to feel like I could possibly get an acceptance tomorrow if you got one today. But congratulations!! And it's not as though I am lacking for acceptances, so I should really just calm down...

Good news has reached the SF bay area...

It all depends on where you want go, yeah. I certainly have had acceptances that did not excite me nearly this much. Congrats on all of yours, and good luck choosing where to go. I'm having a hard time of it.

Add me to the list too. First acceptance to Med School so I m pumped! Got the packet in NYC today so keep hope for all those who have not received anything yet.

doh! It's ok...it's ok...we'll just rework the theory so that the 3-day priority rule applies to SoCal only.

haha...i'm getting desperate. Congrats btw!

That's what I'm going with for right now....then I will change it to no one in LA has heard, then no one in my neighborhood, then no one on my street, then no one in my apartment complex...I think I reached desperate when I started checking this thread every 2 minutes....I have no idea what to call what I am now....just sad i guess. 🙁

No mail in Boston. I am looking forward to a month of waitlists and rejections. Somehow I feel that I deserve it.

no news yet to Mississippi... sad times.

I just heard good news from the Los Angeles area (I'm on the border between LA and San Bernardino Counties)...

The suspense of waiting to hear back from my top choice has driven me to finally join in on the madness and post.
I'm waiting for the parents to get home from work and let me know if I got a big package at home in the sf bay area or not. The wait is killing me and I'm not sure reading this is helping. Congrats to everyone who has gotten the good news already!

Where do you live Songdoc? Is it on the East Coast?

i live in CT. i thought for sure I would get something today even if it was a rejection, but it looks like i must be patient!

good news has reached NC (my parents got the package)... 🙂

It's strange that applicants in seattle and other places in the west coast have gotten acceptance (or otherwise) letters while some people very close to NYC have not. Either they sent their letters at different times or the USPS is being weird. I myself live in the Northeast and have not heard either way from P&S

I think USPS is just inconsistent in certain areas. Meaning, the packet may have reached a dispatch center, but your nearest dispatch center sucks, basically. This is what I am assuming for mine, that there is a big packet waiting to come to me that just hasn't been thrown on the truck.

Wow, seeing that list of everyone who's received an acceptance makes me think it's extremely unlikely that I'll be getting one here in the Midwest. But now I'm much calmer than I was this time last night. Congrats everyone!

And those of you on the waitlist, save room for me! (Unless of course I get rejected.)

Southern California.

Waitlisted. I'm sorry fellow californians.

the good news reached vt this evening! i'll be seeing you in new york...

my thoughts are with those who are still waiting or have no offers yet anywhere - keep the faith.:luck:

Sort of unreal that nearly everyone posting in this thread has received acceptances and there's been 0 rejections. And for 21 (?) people to have posted with acceptances means that like >10% of Columbia acceptees participate on SDN.

I assume your >10% uses the approx. 150 class size for calculations, when in fact the accepted number from last year is 286 and enrolled is 150, so it's under <10% for now. Some people accepted to Columbia are going to Harvard, Yale, Wash U., Michigan, Cornell, Baylor, UPenn etc.

Still, a larger number of accepted persons on here than I would expect.

EDIT: How are people getting this news in the evening?

Banking on a slow mailroom at my college.

Boston Area and nothing here. I'm surprised. I usually receive regular mail in 2 days from NYC.

Rejection:

Is it me or are the dates a little off?

Not to nitpick, but my estimate is pretty conservative. Especially if you consider lurkers. I read somewhere that about 220 are accepted outright and I assume that many of the people who've already posted in this thread but who have not heard may still receive acceptances.

Are you from outside the US? Royald's date is messed up, but all the others seem all right..

I'm seeing 3-2-2008 on this list for lots of the people that received it today (3-3-2008). I don't know why. I'm in Boston, MA. The only thing I can adjust in my account settings is time zone, not date. hmmm

That is a good point. I did not realize that you were estimating based upon future potential as well.

I had to type those and I am tired. My brain said "weren't accepted on the 1st, must be the 2nd" bypassing the fact that the 2nd was Sunday. Fixing.

Thanks so much! We certainly appreciate the effort it took to put all that together for us. 🙂

Thanks, Nirazila!

It looks like it's impossible to predict when mail will arrive. In some cases it took THREE DAYS for priority mail to travel a couple hundred blocks or less...!

Keep the faith, guys.

Congratulations to everyone who got in! :hardy:

I definitely agree that the number of outright Columbia-acceptances on SDN is surprising! Twenty acceptances in any one place is amazingly unlikely. Where else would it happen? The only other places I can think of are New Haven and Cambridge. That's about it. Also, I love that quite a few lurkers are making their first posts in this thread. 🙂

did all of these correspondences come in big or small envelopes?

waitlist - small envelope w/ return envelope inside to declare if you want to remain on the alternate list.

waiting for my rejection letter in Nor Cal.

my mail should be here in an hour or so, so i'll let you guys know when i get my little envelope. maybe i'll have the distinction of being the first rejection.

Not if I'm rejected first! (my mail will also be around in an hour or so)

Good luck guys!!

And no more talk of getting rejected! 😡

Just got my mail with nothing in it. USPS is killing me!

I have got nothing in mine either (Boston area). Anybody in Boston gotten any letter from Columbia today? I just want to hold the rejection from Columbia in my hands, so this agonizing process can end!

So, who else is regretting telling family and friends that you were going to hear from your number one choice on Monday? Because I am, I think I may just not return their phone calls and e-mails....they will eventually figure it out.
