hi,
so I got a 2.9 in undegrad and a 4.0 in graduate school; is the combined gpa an average of these 2 gpas? so it would be a 3.45 total or is the graduate gpa just added alongside the undergraduate gpa?
Thanks!

There may be roughly 2 dozen ways gpas are reported to schools. The impact of a graduate gpa may be a function of the institution/program/subject.

interesting, my masters was in biomedical sciences for pre-health students so it was pretty much all biology/hard sciences

Why would a 30ish credit masters average with 120ish credits of undergrad?

doesn’t matter anyways. They’ll look at your grad gpa.

Here’s what’s reported on the AADSAS application PDF.

hey so I've already applied and have done grad school as well, every dental school that I've asked about this have said they look at the two GPA's separately - since dental schools are very holistic review they want to see the trend in your grades rather than just overall GPA. The only thing I would be wary about is some schools that have a minimum GPA needed to apply, with this they look at your combined GPA but since your combined GPA is above a 3.0 you should be fine 🙂
