Comfort clothes during interviews

My interview instructions say to bring comfortable clothes due to the amount of touring involved. How comfortable are we talking? Cargo shorts and a polo, or gym shorts and T-shirt? Tennis shoes?

Also, when would one change out of their suit and into the comfortable clothes? I know they allow you to bring your luggage to the interview, but would we have to change in the bathroom or something? Not to mention, what if the tour section is prior to the interviews but after the initial arrival? We changing clothes twice?

This is harder than the MCAT 🙁

This is mostly for women because we have to wear heels. In that case bringing a pair of professional flats would be a good idea.

For men taking off a suit jacket might be allowed based off videos I've watched but I'm not entirely sure.

We didn’t even have tours at the interview I went to but I am pretty sure every woman had a pair of flats in their purse lol Y’all come prepared and know the limitations of your own feet.

As others have said, stay in professional attire at all times. Wear dress shoes that you can walk comfortably in as some campuses (e.g UPitts') do feel like a workout to the tired and deconditioned .

Its definitely a matter of confidence and what you're used to. I don't necessarily need to wear heels, but if I showed up to my interview having lost my make up or something, I can't imagine I would have feel as confident and self-assured as you're meant to on interview day.

Hey, not a comment on the person. Just the fact that tighter suits are less conducive to long tours.

Nobody was feeling attacked about wearing 8” heels. Why do the tight suit wearers get special treatment?

Kitten heels...comfort and class. I don’t wear makeup normally, but dolling up just a tad made me feel more confident on interview day.

The only time I've actually seen people change into truly "comfortable clothes" is at the very end of the interview day, after all tours and sessions are over. I had one interview that emphasized (both in the invite and in person) that you were welcome to change into street clothes at the end of the day before traveling home. They offered a changing room and everything. Several of us in that interview group took advantage of it. However, had the school not been so insistent about it being cool I probably would have waited until I got off campus to change.
