hearsay is cheap and usually wrong. I'd try and find some hard numbers from reliable sources to make this list if you must.

This is just my theory but OSUCOM, where Dr. Goljan teaches, is probably up there in terms of percent pass rate and/or average board score.

agree, but where do I find averages by school?

I've never seen an official list of school averages, or even info on the national average comlex score/pass rate...

I got the impression on interview day at LECOM-B that a given year's board scores are published in June, and such a publication is the mechanism for deans to make claims that school X gets the top average by Y points. It's tough to find DO med ed pubs at my undergrad (which is an MD school), but that's where I'd dig.

I would like to think each U.S. D.O. school provides its students with the foundation to pass the COMLEX. For those who do not pass the COMLEX, it probably has little to do with what school they attended and more on that person's own shortcomings whether it be problems with taking standardized tests or not preparing enough, etc etc. Excelling on the COMLEX also probably has much more to do with that person's preparation than what school he or she attended. Any school that had a large enough number of students not passing the COMLEX would likely be on probational accreditation status (I would imagine).

Yeah, they've told us the same thing, but I've never actually seen such a list in print - I don't know if that info is released for public consumption, or something just for the dean's to brag about. The only places I could imagine it being published would be AACOMAS, JAOA, or NBOME.

In any case, if I was school shopping, even if I had this info, it wouldn't factor into my decision of what school to choose at all. I don't think the numbers will tell you anything about how good a fit you are for a school or how happy/successful you will be there. How you do on the boards is more a reflection of individual effort than any magic worked by a school. (Although I'm sure having Goljan kicking around campus wouldn't hurt 😉)

Was just listening to some Goljan kidney path lectures while driving around, would be interesting to sit on some of those lectures.

Dr. G is the MAN! He knows his Step 1 inside out. Those people at OSU are so damn lucky to have him as their path prof.

One of my boys who went to SGU took Kaplan for Step 1. He ended up having Dr. G as his path prof. He said many of the things Dr. G mentioned would be on Step 1 actually ended up on the exam!

Apparently you had to go through a metal detector everyday before attending his Kaplan lecture to prevent anyone from bringing in a RECORDING device...

Based on what our dean told us, TCOM had the highest pass rate (100%) and average score in the country (a whole standard deviation above the mean, I am not sure on the scoring system, but the number 560 sticks out for some reason). Anyhow, that is what I have heard from a student's perspective. I agree with the above posters however that board scores are largely intrinsically motivated.

Our Dean at LECOM-B told us that our pass rate was near the top in the country. Our average was 543(?) and our pass rate was in the high 90s. If I recall, only 2 people failed, and we had the highest scoring student in the country at our school.
