So today I found out today that my school doesn't have their committee letter complete and ready to send to medical schools until ,at the earliest, the 1st week of September. From my understanding it is beneficial to both use the committee letter and to apply as early as possible. So my question is would it be better to get the committee letter in September or have my school send a packet letter/letter of good standing in July? And would the schools even look at my application before the letters arrive or not?

If it makes any difference I'm a transfer with the majority of my UG career at my pervious school ,so I could maybe use that as a reason for not using the committee letter (if that were to be the advised way forward)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

AMCAS process is setup to assume committee letters in September. Having an earlier but potentially weaker application, over one that is latter but complete bu the end of September (which is on time), isnt an issue. You arent going to get any advantage by trying to be early and have a flag to explain for doing so

AMCAS 2018 Timeline (Post Refresh Count #001)
-May 2, 2018, AMCAS application opens for data entry, transcript requests, letter requests
-June 1, 2018, AMCAS application opens for submission. You do not enter verification queue until both primary application and all transcripts have been received
-June 30, 2018, AMCAS begins transmission of verified applications until late June
(though some schools have secondaries sent to contact info upon submission to AMCAS)
-Verification peak is about August 1st and takes 20 days
-Most Primary Apps are transmitted early July thru early September
-Secondaries timelines can vary widely as to when to they are sent out from almost immediately upon submissions to 3 months, though most are in the range 1-3 weeks after transmission.
-Letters via AMCAS are processed/transmitted separately from primary
-Letters can be added after primary has been submitted and transmitted and are mostly not needed until secondary reviews at the earliest.
-Most adcoms dont start meeting for review until at least mid-August, more likely September (though adcom staff may be doing early reviews).
-Submitting Primary Application June is Early, July Medium, August Late
-Having Primary verified and transmitted to school by end of August is normal speed
-Having Secondary and all LORs complete to school by Labor Day is early. By late or end of September is about normal speed, by end of October is about late.

Okay. I was under the impression that the LORs went in around the same time as the secondaries. That is good to know. I will just go with the committee letter in September then. Thank you!
