i searched around and found that in most cases the pre-reqs for allopathic schools are the same for that of osteopathic schools. But I heard a rumor that DO schools indeed require or recommend strongly LOC's from DO doctors.

I assume that you guys get your LOC's from doctors that you shadow?

I want to apply to both allopathic and osteopathics schools and really see no applicable difference in that both will allow me to practice in the U.S. But I wanted to know if taking the following will be enough in terms of course load:

Bio, Chem, Physics, Orgo, 2 english classes ( i hear this one is iffy does it depend per school if i have 1 composition and 1 literature or do I need 2 composition... im confused), i will take calc 3 and another math class (for a math minor) and because of our core classes, i will have foreign language, world cultures, conwest and a social science french lit class...

What are your two cents?

To my knowledge, math classes aren't counted for sGPA, it looks like your doing fine but what about upper level science courses? Are you considering or going to take any? I believe taking upper level science courses shows that you can handle "complex" science classes and etc. Your going to have to rock the MCAT so start preparing a head of time. It also doesn't matter what major or minor you complete as I have read on this forum millions of times.

Good Luck

This is probably not that important a point, but when I applied 4 years ago math classes counted toward science GPA for the DO application service, but not for the MD application service.

Without a doubt, I am a biochemistry major. I am going to take biochem (grad class at my school, NYU) and P-chem. I also intend on taking grad courses such as toxicology, physiology, "mathemathics and biology," and endocrinology.

I DO NOT INTEND ON TAKING MOLEC CELL, GENETICS, MICROBIOLOGY OR ANY OF THAT.

Yes. However, they are not an absolute must (I got into UMDNJ-SOM and I only had an MD rec letter). However, I shadowed DOs as well and I certainly recommend that you do also to get a sense of some of the (albeit small) differences between the professions.

The Excel File should cover your LOR question.

As for your classes, I doubt they'll look at your french lit classes etc as something extremely impressive etc. because plenty of people take unorthodox classes (in terms of "pre-med") during their undergrad career. Every now & then, you'll have an interviewer who will ask you your fav. non-science course in college but thats about it. The English requirement does depend on school but most schools do require that you take 2 semesters of English. A lot of schools cite "One composition, One literature" but you'd be better off calling the individual schools to find out because I know someone who got into a school with two literature classes while the requirements clearly stated one comp. one lit. on their website.
