I’m at a university now and I don’t really have time to take chem 2 here. We have to take and go to recitation on top of lecture and lab. Where at the CC we don’t have to take recitation plus the community college is only 10 minutes away from my house. Where at the university it’s a 25-30 min drive. I talked to my advisor and she said she doesn’t recommend it but it will be okay as long as I bring back an A which I can do. I will be taking three courses at the university while taking the chem 2 at CC. What your opinions?

It is going to limit some of the schools you will be able to apply to. For example, Tufts does not accept CC credits for any its pre-requisites

You'll be more than fine. Aside from the 2 or 3 dental schools that don't accept community college credits, all other dental schools won't care. Good luck!

It depends where you want to go to dental school and how many credits you plan to take at cc in addition to chem 2. For example, there are few schools that don’t allow any cc credits, but many more schools limit them to 6 credits only (for pre-reqs). So if it’s just chem 2, go for it. Chem 2 was the only pre-req I took at cc and I’ve gotten 6 interviews so far

Wow congratulations!! Do they bring it up at interviews? Or is looked down upon? I think taking only one course at a community college isn’t bad. But, a lot of forums on here say it’s not good.

Yes, I agree. I think only taking one or two CC courses isn’t bad. Most of the forums on here are very against it, so just wanted someone’s opinion for one class.

You should be fine. I ended up taking Orgo 2 at CC. I only had to eliminate Tufts & Temple from my list. There may be more out there, but just double check.

60 of my credits are from a CC, including 1 year of gen chem & gen bio. Currently, I have 9 interviews. One CC science class won't hurt you at all. Good luck.
