I am currently enrolled at North Virginia Community College and am going to get an A.S. in Biology. They have a guaranteed admissions program with George Mason University(the largest state university in Virginia) that allows an A.S. Biology directly transfer to their B.S. Biology program. Will medical schools act/think negatively to community college classes, especially that many. When I have spoken with the counselors at either school they did not think it would be a problem. I was confident, but then I saw a post about a medical school not liking someones community college courses.

Thanks

Some care, some don't. Most people here will tell you as long as you take upper level classes at GMU you will be money.

from my observations it appears that if they're a part of a transfer - it won't really matter. But it is really dependent on the schools you're interested in.

I went to a CC, and transferred with an AA to a state school and earned my BA. I changed career goals and returned to the CC to get my prereqs (but that's because I work there and I get free tuition). I contacted the schools I'm interested in and they told me it would not affect my chances.

I don't think this is really a cause for concern because you'll be completing upper level sci courses (and I'm sure you'll do stellar in them)🙂.

I do have to ask, why GMU? VT, UVA(yuck), William and Marry, JMU, VCU, and ODU have the same program.

GMU has one campus 30 min. from my house and another 45 min away. They also seemed to have a pretty good science department. I know it is not as prestigious as UVA, but everyone I talk to says it is a pretty good college. BTW, my family just moved from Texas so I am not very familiar with the schools here in VA. GMU is good right?
Thanks

GMU is a good school, most people who go there live off campus, I think a relativity small percent live in Fairfax. What Nova campus do you go to?

Also: GMU's Sterling campus is pretty tiny.

Manassas and Manassas / Innovation Park. I will go to the GMU Manassas Campus.

Yeah, it's only 25-30 min from my house. It's just south of Manassas. It will be nice.

NOVA is one of the strongest community colleges in the country. If you stay a Virginia resident, none of the state medical schools will care about NOVA coursework as long as your grades are good.
