So currently I'm going to a 2year community college. I was wondering, will it hurt my chances if I take some med school pre-req courses at a CC? I plan on getting my associates from here as well. The ONLY pre-req for med school I plan on taking from my CC is Physics+English1+2(amazing proff here). Will this hurt my chances?? The rest of the courses I take are normal stuff like trig, anatomy& physiology, ethics, ect ect(Just taking them so I can transfer to a Uni).

Oh and one more question, I was told that my major doesn't mean anything when applying to med school, as long as I take the right courses. So will it matter if I pick a bullshiit degree such as "Liberal arts" to get my associates so that so I can transfer to a uni? I don't plan to take even Chemistry at this CC, even though I know it's going to be such an easy A.

-Thanks for the help you guys

TL&DR
-at community college
-will it hurt me if i take 3 med school pre-req courses at a community college
-Does my associate major matter when xfering to Uni

It would've been easier to do a quick search.

And some people might take offense to calling a Liberal Arts degree "bullsh*".... So be wary.

And as long as you do good at the CC, and do well in upper level courses at the university, it shouldn't matter (there are some med schools that look down upon CC courses, so you should check up on those).

Yes it will hurt your chances at some schools, accept it...I am at a CC and I just sucked it up and started taking my pre-reqs here. When I apply to a university in a year I will have to have certain classes done to be in my science major as a junior. Check with what Uni you want to transfer to and see if they have 2+2 year plans for a major you're interested in.

Rules are as followed

1. Do not take CC classes while in a university
2. If you start at CC do upper level science classes once you transfer (do well in them, I'm talking A's)
3. Show an upward trend (grades)
4. Do well on the MCAT, (30-35) it is the great equalizer
5. CC is what you make of it, study to learn don't be lazy like 70% of CC students

Anecdotal evidence but 4 of my friends who went to the same CC as me and did all prereqs there made it to medical school. 1 USC, 1 Havard, 1 Davis, 1 Loma Linda. If I made it this year I would be the fifth. So don't let it bother you.

Edit: though things are looking grim atm. only one interview so far.

So I am sitting here in the library looking at your username, and I totally had to say it out loud. Got some weird looks....🙄

Only an ignorant ***** is going to suggest community college classes to be sub-par to a university curriculum.

It is 100% dependent upon the professor as the accreditation calls for the exact same material to be covered. You will not be looked down upon what so ever just as you will not be looked down upon for going to a state university over a private institution.

Anyone who says otherwise doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.

It is obviously assumed you will continue to do well moving to a 4 year university -- why wouldn't you?

But since I am getting angry at myself for responding to this god forsaken post that has been repeated so many damn times it makes my eyes bleed, I will let you figure out the details for yourself.
