I'm a sophomore in college, starting this fall term. What is a good community service idea? How long should I do it, what specifically looks good, when should I start? Thank you!

Ideally, you'd give your time to a cause you care about. For nonmedical community service, consider Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, crisis hotline, soup kitchen, food pantry, homeless shelter. womens shelter, after-school tutoring for middle school students, teaching ESL to adults, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels.I'm a sophomore in college, starting this fall term. To hijack this thread, a nontraditional question.
I graduated college 6 years ago and went to work in industry. I only decided to look into medicine recently. In the roughly 5.5 years since college I estimate I've done maybe 200-300 hours of various volunteering. Almost none of it is documented and it's all scattered about (ie 10h with leukemia and lymphoma society, 20h habitat, various fundraising etc). Just whatever I felt like doing. I didn't really keep track because at the time I didn't know I would need any sort of a record.
I feel like I should mention this in addition to the clinical volunteering that I'm doing now, because it shows volunteerism that wasn't driven by a desire to get into medical school, but I have no way of proving I've done it, and no easy way of organizing it on an application.
Any suggestions on what to do, or you all reckon I'm sol on this one?
