nice. I went around phillips ranch to check out some places, and they are very, very nice! but too rich for my blood
🙁 so most likely I'll be living around west covina or la verne area. Hope to meet you poker pros soon 😉 and hook me up with the info for the meeting date and time! June 12th right? late
Sup Dr. Don, did you end up going to that LMSA dinner? They had emailed me on my yahoo account and wanted to know if I was going but I couldn't cause of my test. I feel like maybe I should have gone.

I'm good for June 12 but I know that drjack and someone else preferred the 5th so I don't know. It's too difficult to agree on a day.

Thanks for the info, guys and gals

what up slick, yeah man I went. It was cool. I met the Latino students there and they seem down to earth. Got some great advice about what to expect for first year and it seems like there's going to be more minorities enrolled this year than previous years, so they are really excited about that, because the lack of diversity in med school is quite depressing, and most importantly our communities need us....so what's up with you? I've been reading some of your posts, seems like you've been busy schooling some people about DO schools. Like you said it's depressing the way they think about the profession. Well man, take care and hope everything is working out with you. Late

That's cool. Yea I think I should have gone. Oh well, I guess I'll meet them when school starts.

I think I've been too pro-DO on these boards. I should be studying for finals.

Oh and I hope other peeps look into phillips ranch also. I'm going to live there most likely even though it's quite expensive because it's nice. If you live with someone its a decent price but if you are looking for a studio it costs way too much. 👍

dr. jack june 5th
here atlast june 5th
Dr. Don June 5th or 12th.
ris: neither-but totally down for the next one!
Adapt: June 12th
Luwi25: June 5th or 12th (LET's just PICK!)
Jbernet1: June 5th or 12th.
Kdances: Can't make either but maybe July!

Reposting this, so it doesn't get buried in the thread. Anybody need to add his or her name? Please do so soon.
We got to make a decision. 😕

I think we should definitely meet somewhere in the greater LA area (is Anaheim central for everyone?). Maybe a happy hour would be more laid back no? Dinner at a restaurant seems so structured while happy hour would be more chill.

How about Downtown Disney: ESPN Zone: happy hour?

Any other suggestions?

Couple of things I need advice on...
Health insurance!!! I always had health insurance through my work, it is so new for me to shop around for my own private one... so i have no clue! What kind of health plans do you guys have??!!
and second for outside Loan, i still need to apply!! I am thinking about Citiassist!! did any of you guys get your loan from them ?? and when you apply for it... how does it work?!!!
I feel like time is clicking away and i still have all this stuff to do! Is anyone else worried like me!!!( I am usually not like this) 😱

P.S. oooh and one more thing, i know i was the one that suggested to meet
on the 12th and then again suggested to change it to the 5th, but as it turns out i have a party to go to on the 5th... so if it is for happy hour i might be able to make it, if not...oh well my loss! So i am just not gonna comment on that and you guys go ahead and decide the day, and if i make it then i'll have the honor of meeting my future class mates and if not... then ... sorry!!! 🙁

i'm up for any day as long as there is no laker game!

Where is Downtown Disney/ESPN?

I was thinking it would be cool to meet for happy hour at approx 4:00 or so? Does that sound good?

😀I got accepted ... I'll be joining all of you this August. 😀

Have you guys decided on which loan provider you?re going to use:

1. Access Group
2. Citibank
3. Key Bank MedAchiever Loan
4. Sallie Mae Signature Loan
5. Student Loan Funding
6. T.H.E.
7. Wells Fargo

I can?t seem to make up my mind.

I'm going to be out of town on the 12th. Oh well, I'll meet you all at orientation.

I have the same problem too!! but then i am thinking that since they are probably competing with each other, all of them probably have same kind of rates and stuff...so i am thinking about going with citibank...but still not sure. Let me know which one you choose. Ohhhh and do you guys know if you need to apply every year for it!!! probably so ha!

hey guys-

It is great to see so many of you COMP2008 people so excited to start school (or ISAC for some of you). For those of you doing ISAC, I am one of your TAs and I am also excited to meet you all and see how your class is going to come together. I am around all summer, living in Portofino in Chino Hills, a very nice place. Personally I like Plum Tree Apartments in Claremont better, but Chino Hills has a lot of shops and amentities around (just in case some of you are still looking for places).

I noticed people talking about helath insurance and I must recommend the SOMA insurance plan, it has great coverage, including dental and vision plans. You can't sign up unitl school starts, but it is well worth the wait. The insurance through the school is not very good, so I don't really recommend it (I am stilll fighting a bill with them).

Besides that, I just wanted to say hi, and remind you to enjoy what you are doing now, because you are going to look fondly upon these times in a few months. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about whatever......

i'm not pushing for the 12th- i'd be cool to do it on the 5th since the ISACers will most likely be studying on the 12th. let's just pick a day already.

Don't we have to have insurance before we can register for classes?

dr...dr... said:

I think the way it works is that they will automatically give you insurance. They will just add it on to your other fees. If you have insurance already from somewhere else you show proof of that, and they will cancel the extra fee of insurance.

Hey people, I just got rejected from Loma Linda so I'm off to Western next year for sure. I felt more a sense of relief than sadness because I at least no where I'm going to be and where I belong. Can't wait to finally get this thing going. 😀

Awhh.. well, hopefully you won't have any second thoughts about LLU. Don't worry, you will get a chance to test your mettle with those LLU students on rotations. I am glad to hear that you're feeling more relieved now that you're set on where you will be getting your med education at!

Oh yea I'm psyched. And I will show up those LLU students on rotations. 😡 😀

Hey everyone, Just excited to say I will be joining the COMP 2008 class. I was just posting to see if anyone else was accepted through the northwest track? I am currently living in Wyoming and will be headed out that way in July. Living in Southern California will be a big change, but I am up for it and welcome the change.

Trey

Welcome to Western U, Trey. See you soon!

I can't wait to start school!!! but time flies.... next thing we know, it is final time for the first semester and all of us are tired and miserable..........but you know what! I still can't wait!!!!

I can't make it on the 12th 🙁 , but I am looking forward to see all of you COMPers at the orientation if not sooner!!!! Have fun on the 12th!!! 👍

Can you make it on June 26th? We were thinking of postponing FOR THE LAST TIME as a final effort to include everyone in our "meeting".

slick: its good to hear the waiting game is over for you; it will be awesome to have you in our class!

also is this the first year they're doing the "northwest" track? this should be pretty cool; it will add a lot of geographic diversity to our class

when i was at gtown last year it was humbling and pretty cool to meet people from all over the US, i'm speaking on behalf of all the californians who went to a uc school where everyone was from ca

is anyone doing anything cool for the summer;

It will be awesome to be in the class. 😀

As far as I know this is the first year for the northwest track. That's one of the reasons why COMP is still interviewing I guess. The diversity will be cool.

Aren't you still TAing for the summer?

we finish in a couple weeks; but i'm not sure if there's any need for me in the summer; so i'll have july off probably

Hi everybody,

I have been accepted to western U 😀 . And just wanted to say hi. I am sooo excited to meet all of you. I have been reading your threads for awhile, and think you are all awesome 🙂 . We're going to have a great 4 years!!! 👍

I really wanted to meet you all but June 12th Iam going to Bay Area 🙁 .
Oh, a little bit about myself:
I am 25, from LA, graduated last year, and have been working as a research assistant studying Type 2 diabetes in Latino children and adolescents.
And I recently got married, woohoo 😀 .

Dr. Jack I am starting ISAC w/ you next week, I hope to meet you there.

Hi Trey (and everyone!), just wanted to chime in and let you know that I will also be in the northwest track. Grew up in Seattle, currently in Chicago. Moving to Chino Hills in early July. Current plan before classes start = read books, watch movies, relax. Looking forward to meeting all of you soon and hoping that the SoCal weather won't spoil me too badly....

Plus, you can't get caught drinking booze at LLU...no fun!

Welcome efhuang and arlsoonDO!!!!!

Actually, some people are meeting up June 26th Sat ESPN zone...check the other thread.

Just wanted to say thanks to fried, and also Hey to Erik for the NorthwestTrack folks. As far as I know this is the first year, which makes me wonder about the 3rd and 4th rotations even if they are a ways off. Anyone have an info about that? I'm from Wyoming, and used to living in a real rural setting. The whole state only has a population of about 500,000 so Socal will be a bit of a change.

I graduated in 01 and have been working full-time in the local ER as an EMT. I also love the mountains, and from my name the snow! I volunteer for the Red Cross, ski patrol, and like lots of outdoors activites. I might actually make it to the espn thing on the 26th was planning on visiting that weekend to find a place to live.

Also do we have to be on campus to register on the 30th? My original plan was to be in transit at that time.

Trey

 That's true. Although there won't be time for that in school. 😉

Welcome to the new people. I see we have a lot of people representing from the northwestern parts. 😀

So is it the 26th then? From the other thread friedc can't make it. This scheduling thing is tough...

2sno, I think registration is on-line, so you don't have to be on campus (as far as I know). I do have to be present for mandatory orientation in like Aug. 4th or so. Since I am an ISAC student I had to register by Jun. 4th, and I was able to do it thru banweb. I hope it helps 🙂 .

oh, make sure you don't have any holds on your account
