my 17AA is 55.7th percentile, but i saw someone post his 17AA but his percentile was 40th. another post had 66th percentile for an 18 in the pat. my pat is 18 and my percentile is 81.9th. the QR scores had big differences too. this doesn't sound fair to me. what do you think about this?? any opinions?? or does it depend on how smart the test takers are?

well, i'm no brainiac, especially with math... but i think it has to do with how people scored that took THAT particular test... so people who had different test versions than you could have different percentile rankings.

i think someone said before that dental school's don't get those rankings just scores (I may be wrong here though...)

yea can someone explain how they determine percentiles. my AA was 98.7. is that 98.7% higher than anyone who took that test version this year??? or forever, or just that day?? confused =)

I'm not sure how it works, but if the stats were calculated based only on the current year then the percentiles would keep changing with every person who took the test. I always just assumed they used older stats for the percentile calculations. I'm probably wrong, but in the end does it matter? As stated previously, the schools don't get your percentile.

Yep, I've read from previous postings that schools only see the DAT numbers and not the percentiles.

The AADSAS app also requires you to input the numbers and not the percentiles

Obviously they have their own weird algorithm determining percentiles - i took my DAT last year and similar scores with my friends equated to drastically different percentiles (i happened to bring up this topic in an old thread). Can't imagine how they do it tho -
