Hi all,

I as wondering how competitive masters programs are. I know you have to meet basic graduate standards with good recommendations and so forth. However unlike medical schools they dont publish average gpa and mcat of entering students. Perhaps take a Brown or Georgetown, is it crazy competiteve or are we talking a good AR% if you have a good CV and grades

Thanks!

Not competitive unless it's some sort of special program because master's programs are not funded. They're sources of revenue for the school, so the school is incentivized to fill its master's programs. PhD programs, on the other hand, are funded and thus more competitive (although not as competitive as med school) even though master's and PhD students are essentially the same for the first two years of a PhD program.

Getting in isn't hard if you have good references, and have either have a very high gpa or have distinguished yourself by very good standardized tests (GRE/MCAT/etc).
