If you're complete at a school on the same day as other applicants but you don't receive an interview invite in the same batch as them, does this usually lead to rejection? I know the application process requires a lot of patience, but I'd just rather be realistic instead of wishfully thinking I might receive interview invite that will probably never come. Any insight from people who have been in this situation during past application cycles would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Some people are put in a "late interview" pile, unfortunately. This means you won't get the highest priority interviews, but you'll still have a chance when you interview in january or whenever.

All schools have different screening procedures and different committee members may take different amounts of time to review applications for interview decisions. The best advice I can give you is to breathe and try your best not to overanalyze this process. Go do something fun - or homework if you've still got it.

It's not a good sign if you're like this in July. Some people get off waitlists right before school starts. Just relax or you will find the next year to be a really stressful, difficult one.

this. in short, the problem might be you, or it might not be. nothing you can do about it at this point anyway - so you may as well find something else to do (other than think about it)

you should also consider the fact that interview invites from any one school "never come" for most of the applicants to that school. so sitting around dwelling on it really doesn't make any sense.

I was actually pretty chill about everything until I talked to a neurotic classmate today (should've known better than to get trapped into a conversation about med school applications with someone like that). He made it sound really bad if you were complete at the same time as other people who got interviews when you didn't. Thanks everyone for the replies and for helping to put things in perspective!

you're fine. Chill out.
