If COMP extends an offer for an interview, Im wondering what the chances are of being accepted if you dont totally blow the interview.

Im asking this cuz I just recently got invited to an interview there, and It would be a nice thought to think that I am now in a much smaller pool of applicants whose chances of acceptance are considerably good now.

Any input from those who have been interviewed, accepted or both would be greatly appreciated.

They told us during the interview that they interview about 600 applicants and send out letters for 2/3 of them, so 400 acceptances. According to the U.S. News medical school information book it's around a 90% acceptance rate with interview (not sure if that one is as accurate).

COMP accepts everyone who interviews, unless you do something really really stupid on your interview to change that

thanks dr.z and futuredoc!

If this is true, then I am really excited at the prospect of not having to leave California to attend medical school. COMP is about 45 minutes away from where i live

what do you guys think about COMP as a school in general? what are the impressions or reputation of this school?

from what i gather, its a pretty well respected degree from COMP and the school has some really good residency matches from what ive seen

It is true, though I know of some people who have gotten waitlisted.

COMP has a great reputation especially in California. The residency match is impressive and many can not beat the SoCal weather. The outward appearance of the school and where it's situated in Pomona are a turnoff to most applicants, but it is what's in the school that you should look at. If you want to know more, PM me. Best of luck.

What are something that are considered really really stupid? well......I already had my interview and am anxiously waiting for the decision. I know once it's done then it's done, and you can't change anything about it, but I just can't stop thinking about it and if I did something "stupid"...😛
