OK-- so my question is what should I do if the computer acts up in the middle of the test?

The reason I am asking this is because it has happened before! Last time I took it the highlighting function was jacked up and the test was running really slow. I didnt know what to do at that point. Do I tell the proctor in the middle of the section (maybe she'll pause it and get me a new comp) or just continue then tell her after? I figured since they dont work for AAMC they wouldnt really care or know what to do so I decided to finish the section.

After i finished the section, I reported the problem to the proctor and she said "we will try to get you a new computer but there are no guarantees". I made a big deal about it and she finally switched my computer. Of course, by then I had lost my cool and was stressed out for the remaining sections ! AHHHH I should have voided (the stress took an obvious toll on my score).

I reported this to AAMC and they didnt care. I am worried bc i have to take it at the same center this time. What would you do in such a situation? Why are AAMC a bunch of money thirsty jerks?

ADVICE: GO THROUGH THE TUTORIAL AT THE BEGINNING BEFORE YOU TAKE IT! I dont remember whether I did or not...its all a blur but I have a feeling that I could have caught the problem earlier (or maybe not).

Good luck this time! My friend had her computer crash in the middle of a section...the main thing is to keep your cool so when they turn your computer back on or switch computers, you can still function.

Taking the tutorial is also a good idea. If anything is wrong it should show up then.

did it save her answers and did the time start up at the same place?

You should immediately notify the proctor. From there, the proctor can either try to fix your computer or switch you to a new one. The only thing the AAMC can do is void your test.

It DID save her answers.

When she told me I laughed out loud because it sounds like one of the most terrifying things to have happen during important test lol.

It seems a lot of people have some kind of problem and the test somehow usually saves the answers.

because to us, the MCAT is one of the biggest tests we will ever right...to AAMC, the MCAT is a business - they are businessmen, not doctors, therefore they do not care...

so true..

i hate the AAMC money-hoarding guts with the passion of a thousand suns. You can quote me on that.

Wait....so the highlighting function actually works for the real MCAT? I thought I read somewhere that it is only functional on practice tests, but to keep in mind that it is not a tool that can be used for the actual MCAT. Is this info wrong? I'll be kicking myself for not using it to its full potential!! haha 😱
