I'm buying a new computer for med school (will be attending Western or DMU in fall 08; deferred decision by one year) and I was considering buying one of those tablet PCs. As med school students, do you guys ever use it? Do know of others who do (if so, then approx what percent)? Would you recommend it? I was thinking I could use it to take notes on my power-point during class--especially since I've heard that many students don't actually print off notes, and just study from my power-points.
Thanks!

Be aware that at DMU a tablet PC is included in your tuition, so if you decide to matriculate there don't buy one.

I think a tablet PC would've been a good idea, & much easier to take notes on - esp when you have to draw funky arrows & circles fast. For me, sometimes the profs point at things very briefly (e.g path subjects) & trying to keep up via typing was too slow for me. But I just didn't do it cuz of the price at the time. But I think it would've been a better choice (for me at least).

Hey Guys,
Just in case anyone's more interested in topic, go to the allo forum and check out my post on this topic. A lot of people chimed in with various opinions. Hope this helps.

If I could do it over again, I'd get a tablet without a doubt.

Bought a Mac and at times am frustrated with compatibility issues (our lecture video only works with a Windows Media plugin which isn't available for OSX, our school is going to a computer based testing system which requires me to install windows on my machine, MS Office for OSX applications are pretty buggy, etc.) as well as little flaws in the new MacBook (crappy mouse button issues, battery issues, etc.) I used to love Mac, then I started med school.🙄

The new macs run on an intel chip and so you can dual boot into monkey soft windows and leave the glamor that is the OSX (for a short while ofcourse).
