computer needs

all in one machines tend to break more (and are harder to fix).
an inkjet printer should be fine. can't think of any reasons as to why you'd need a scanner. OCR software is still pretty bad for scanners (at least the stuff that comes bundled).

Get Bis-hub... just saw it on tv.

I have a HP all-in-one. It's great. I don't scan or copy a lot, but it sure is nice to be able to when the need arises. I've had it a couple years and it hasn't broken yet.

I am not a computer expert but before I buy a printer, I'd search for the availability of generic ink cartridges and/or refill ink first. But I am not sure if that will save me $ in the long run though. Generic cartridges may not contain the same amount of ink as the brand name ones.

Our old HP printer desk jet 660C went limping a year or two after the purchase. It's barking loudly every time now. The discontinued Epson Stylus 860 that I have for four years still works quietly perfect. Epson C84 is newer and faster. It is a good bargain at $65 after $20 rebate. But it looks a little big to me. These are ink jet printers.
